Quake fund in Dixon collects first donations
The Armenian Earthquake Relief Fund in Dixon has raised 130 dollars as of Friday afternoon. Mayor James Dixon issued a proclamation urging donations to buy medical supplies for up to 500,000 homeless Armenians. The Dixon/Dickson Sister Cities group and Warmolts Family Medical Center sponsors the drive with local church collections planned.

LaRouche Convicted on Mail Fraud Charges
A federal jury in Alexandria Virginia convicted Lyndon LaRouche and six associates of mail fraud for borrowing over 30 million dollars for their political groups with no intent to repay. LaRouche, a four time presidential candidate, was also found guilty of conspiring to defraud the IRS by concealing income to avoid taxes. He called the verdict a miscarriage of justice and said he expected to be killed, claiming he would not live in prison. The seven defendants were freed on recognizance pending appeal as 48 convictions were returned by the jury.
