Leaf River seeks annexation hope to Byron district
Leaf River residents and two school board members push for annexation to Byron to gain tax benefits from the Byron Station nuclear plant. Board members Wilson and Williams say Byron has not ruled out annexation, and a plan with resident support may be presented to Byron next week. Byron previously rejected consolidation with Mount Morris and Meridian after a Hazard study found higher taxes.
