Nine youths aged 12 to 18 were arrested in Tampico for vandalizing the Ronald Reagan Birthplace on Main Street. Nancy Lechner, a 53 year old educator with advanced degrees, has married Rev. Paul Lechner, 61, pastor of First Lutheran Church of Lee. The pair met in spring 1988 when Paul visited San Antonio. Nancy was neighboring Paul’s Air Force daughter, a captain headed for Japan.
The couple married July 15 in the Botanical Gardens in San Antonio. The bride-Lechner— accepted an endowed chair at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas, amid plans to commute from Illinois. She praised the decision as part of a larger plan and noted 1,000 students at the college.
