Garey Blames Wine Men For Payment Delay
C J Carey of the Statewide wine Industry Stabilization committee blames vintners for delays in prorate payments to growers on brandy loans. He notes some processors avoid proof of collateral and that reports or tonnage fees are missing. About $600,000 has been distributed last month as winery reports cleared. The prorate plan favors 46 percent of the 1939 crop to be made into wine and withheld from market rather than turned into brandy as in 1938.

Milne, described as Ukiah’s first white child born to the Smith family, has lived here most of her life except five years in Point Arena. Her sons Dr. R. A. Milne of Ukiah and Lloyd Milne of Los Angeles. five sisters survive among ten children, including Mrs. Charles H. Wilgus, Mrs. A. D. Scott, Mrs. C. B. Scott, Mrs. Ollie Shaw, and Mrs. Milne.
