Armistice Day Observed by Legion Post

Armistice day events are planned by Beaverhead post Legion committee with a 7 A.M. reveille salute 10 A.M. parade and talks 2 P.M. polo and 9 P.M. wall at city hall activities all open to the public except the banquet final plans discussed at a Thursday meeting with Ht L Hatton Harold Warner and Joe Jaques. Progress of the One Man Drive for 1932 enrollment will be reported.

Dance Hall in Melrose Destroyed by Fire

The large Melrose dance hall owned by George Huber was burned late Wednesday night of last week. The frame building, containing a piano, 150 pairs of roller skates and other equipment, was destroyed despite town residents fighting the blaze with a hose from the railroad water tank. The hall served as a popular community center and was heavily patronized on dance nights.

Edith Stanfield’s eighth birthday party at home on S Dakota

Miss Edith Mae Stanfield daughter of Ray J Stanfield celebrated her eighth birthday with a Wednesday party at her S Dakota Street home. Hallowe en decorations and favors highlighted the event. After games, refreshments for twelve were served.

Garage Fire Destroys Jackson Building

A large Jackson garage used for a dance hall and community events burned last Saturday evening. The fire is believed started by a defective flue after Jolt Crouse fired a stove to heat Lace hall for a dance. Two automobiles and some machinery were saved. the building was partly insured. Owner John Pendergast was identified.

Clayton Denies Arrest In Livestock Dispute Case

Peas Harvest Near Beaverhead Valley Completion Report

Roy Ferguson of Rodgers Bros. Seed Company says Beaverhead valley ranchers produced eight to nine carloads of seed peas this season. He has been in the city since Aug 18 to supervise cleaning and shipping of the local product. The final cleanup was mailed this morning at the North area processing site.

Headquarters Opened by Associated Charities Aid

The Dillon's Associated Charities opened a central headquarters on Center Street in the former Ham’s Shop to collect winter clothing and food for the needy. Donations of beef, pork, poultry, vegetables, clothing, and shoes are welcomed, with pickup by Rev. TO Shannon or delivery to the central depot inside the old Unhas Shop. The police department will hold a key for after hours drop offs.

Former Matron Lucy Barshaw Dies in Washington

Mrs Lucy Barshaw longtime Dillon resident and restaurant operator died suddenly last Saturday at her home in Pe Ell Washington from a heart attack She was 64 native of Michigan and had lived in this region over 30 years Surviving daughters include Mrs Ed Morrow Mrs Adolph Stewart Miss Andrea Barshaw and others The body was shipped to Twin Bridges for funeral with services held there Wednesday at 2 PM

Orr Reece wedding held in Butte

Miss Margaret Elizabeth Reece became bride of Ernest Orr Jr. in a Butte ceremony conducted by Rev. Hidward Smith of Grace Methodist church. Judge and Mrs. Lee Van Mitten attended. after a motor trip the couple will reside at the Poindexter Orr ranch near Dillon. The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Reece, is a Normal college graduate and former teacher. the groom is son of ranchman Ernest Orr of Blacktail.

Slot Machines Seized in Sheriff Raid Across Local Establishments

Sheriff and police raided multiple local establishments last Friday and seized 14 slot machines. Tom Barnett was arrested as the owner and pleaded guilty in Judge Philips court, bound over for sentence under $2,000 bonds. He later appeared before Judge Bennett and was fined $100. The 14 machines were destroyed by court order.

Popular Couple William Morrison and Annabel Desmond Wed at St James

In a Saturday morning ceremony at St James Episcopal church attended by intimate friends, William Morrison and Mrs Annabel K Desmond were married. Rev I N Tragritt officiated and the couple left for a wedding trip afterward. Mrs Desmond, longtime Dillon resident and graduate nurse, came from Scotland.

Elks Initiate Three At County Lodge Meeting

Ninety three members attended the annual roll call as three candidates were initiated. J B Garrison of Reichle Herman Peterson of Grant and Orville Smith of this city joined the order. Refreshments followed the business session while E F Sill served as chef. The Elks drum corps also paraded in uniform earlier.

Lima Resident Dies at County Farm Interment in Mountain View

August Porter, an elderly Lima resident and longtime rancher, died this morning after a year at the county farm. Relatives are not located. The funeral was held at Brundage and burial followed in Mountain View cemetery.
