Beaverhead County Women’s Clubs Meet in Lima
The fifteenth semi annual Beaverhead County Federation of Women’s Clubs met October 18 at Lima High School with the Lima Parent Teachers Association hosting. Speeches covered federation progress, state issues Referendum 33 and 34, and annual reports followed by an art exhibit, music, and dance numbers. Election of officers concluded the session with Mussigbrod, Scott, Wildman, and Morse among the elected officers.

The Dillon community organized a third Boy Scout troop Tuesday night at St James guild hall. Charter members include Don Mulkey Glen Hocking Craig Anderson Fred Wolf Francis Mooney Warren Stone Jr Scoutmaster Rev H N Tragitt Jr appointed Mulkey as scribe Anderson as treasurer and Stone and Hocking as temporary patrol leaders The St James parish troop committee includes Fred Chapman chair N L Henry secretary J H Gilbert treasurer John T Orr advancement and George Melton camping.

Stephan Team Wins In Close Country Club Golf Tourney
One of the season’s most enjoyable events, a two ball four ball golf tourney at the Country Club on Sunday, saw the Stephan team captained by Dr. W. H. Stephan defeat H. M. Brundage by a narrow margin. Both leaders and partners shot 46 and settled the tie with an extra hole. A dinner followed at the Andrus dining room.

Taxes Decrease Despite Lower Beaverhead Valuation
Beaverhead county tax books show a 1980 county tax total down by 288.71 from 1929 due to a drop in assessed value. Despite a 2 mill county levy increase, Lima's 19.50 mill rise and Dillon's 0.50 mill rise apply only within their limits as commissioners trimmed the budget. 1929 valuation was 7 187 783, 1930 6 808 736, a 328 977 drop. 2 mill county increase plus 1.60 in high school funds and 0.50 in general fund reflect changes.

Normal College Football Hosts Billings Saturday
The Normal college grid team plays its second home game this season on the home field against Billings Polytechnic. Fans expect a strong showing from Billings, touted as a top team this year. Normal lost 32 to 0 to the Bobkittens in Bozeman last week, while Beavers were defeated 56 to 0 at Livingston on a muddy field.

Cabin Fire Destroys Structure on John Stephanie Ranch

Daly plead guilty to forgery and gets four-year sentence
Lloyd Daly admitted forging W. M. Stewart's signature on a check and was sentenced by Judge H. G. Rodgers to four years in prison. He was paroled from the bench pending action by the state board of pardons on his case.

Brother of Tom Mulaney Passes
William Mulaney a prominent Dillon early resident died in Kalispel after months of illness. His brother Tom Mulaney of Dillon left for Kalispel to attend the funeral. William helped develop Dillon and later thrived in Kalispel business life for over 40 years. He was survived by his wife and his Dillon brother.

Flaming Steer Ignites Dipping Tank Near Bristow
A steer, first to enter a new dipping vat near Bristow, caught fire after an electric prod sparked oil and gasoline in the tank. The blaze caused about 1200 dollars in damage before the steer was shot. The tank, built by Bristow Livestock Sanitary association, will be repaired.
