Final report filed in Morse and Ellis estate cases
The district court received the final report and petition for distribution in the estates of the late Maggie Morse and the late Robert Ellis. Alfred Ellington’s bond was forfeited after an order to appear on October 15 to begin serving a liquor sentence. Louis Stahl named administrator for the estate of George R. Anderson, a Beaverhead County soldier who died of influenza at a U S training camp around 1918.

Dillon Man’s Brother D C Mayfield dies in Denver
John and Harm Mayfield learned Thursday of the sudden death of their brother D C Mayfield of Denver Colorado. He was an engineer on the D and R G W for 25 years and was well known in Dillon having visited here several times. Details of the death were not yet received.

The Montana taxpayers association report shows Dillon’s city tax levy at 13.5 mills, the lowest among 44 city municipalities. Beaverhead county total levy hits 85.25 mills, placing it mid upper range with 36 counties higher and 20 lower. Wheatland 19 mills and Musselshell 46 mills bound the spread. Darby and Browning lead and lag among towns with 6 to 80 mills respectively.

Fire Blazes From Old Flour Mill Debris
Firefighters battled a Saturday blaze in the south part of the city after embers reignited from the wreckage of an old flour mill. The flames spread toward Orr avenue but did not threaten nearby Pennsylvania Oil gas tanks. A water spray and steam enveloped the scene and crews remained on duty due to wind risk.

Rotary district governor to visit Dillon club tonight

Rural schools report perfect attendance in month
Four rural schools in the county posted 100 percent attendance for the first month of the semester per county superintendent Miss Alice Roe. Caboose Damaged In Collision At Monida
A freight engine failed to stop on the main track at Monida causing a through freight locomotive to ram the local dread caboose. The crash derailed the caboose and damaged the leading locomotive pilot. No employees were hurt and wreckage was quickly cleared.

Gas storage ordinance repealed by council
At a special meeting on Monday October 11 the city council repealed the recently enacted gas and flammable liquid storage ordinance by a 6 to 2 vote. The measure required tanks over 380 gallons to be buried, but was deemed impracticable because local oil warehouses would incur prohibitive costs to comply.
Twelve Hundred Horses Gathered Around Armstead
A week long roundup near Armstead in Centennial valley and Sage creek district has gathered over 1200 horses for disposal. Unclaimed stock will be sold to a Butte slaughter house under the direction of George Ditty and W C Orr with riders from southern county ranches assisting. The event is one of the largest in years as many horses remain wild and unbranded.
