Man Fatally Hurt In Freak Accident Near Dillon

Five ranch hands and coal miners traveling from Bedrock to Dillon stopped to fix a tire when Ray Willis died after a bull struck him on the left eye. Willis, aMedicine Lodge coal mine worker, collapsed from paralysis and died at Barrett hospital. Other names in the party included Clifford Hyatt John Schuster Jim Miller Oscar Gramberg and Fred. Authorities seek to notify relatives believed to live in California.

Normal Overcome by Butte Miners

Deceptive plays and a more seasoned Butte Ore Diggers squad routed Normal College in the season opener at Leonard Bowl in Butte. Construction on New Lima Dam Starts Soon

A bid call for rebuilding the Water Users Irrigation dam near Lima Montana is published. Work to begin after contract award with 250 local workers, increasing reservoir capacity to 93 000 acre feet normal and up to 110 000 acre feet. Plans cite a 16 mile lake with 44 mile shore line and 215 000 irrigated acres.

Taxes Show Drop From 1932 Level in 1933 Leaverhead County

County tax rolls show total charges of 308162.49 for 1988 collection by the county treasurer starting Nov 1, down 36 84 42 from last year, with 1982 total 340046 91. Comparison lists 1932 1933 figures for county general road poll tax poor trust and other funds and notes educational levies make up about 39 6 percent of the total.

Collision injures several on county road near Mill Point

G. E. Beckstead of Brigham City Utah and Ellis Brundage recently with Harrison ranch at Grasshopper creek were treated at Barrett hospital after a Sunday morning crash on a narrow county road near Mill Point. A Roy Ford daughter of Jackson sustained a broken hand and multiple teeth loss. Defective lights were blamed. Brundage’s car likely beyond repair. Beckstead expected to remain about ten days.

Sheriff Orr and local deputies discount a Wednesday Butte daily story about a so called murder car seen in the Centennial valley. They say the vehicle belonged to a local rancher and not the machine linked to the North Dakota crime.

Beavers Lose to Bozeman Elevens in Close Game

Beavers were defeated by Bozeman eleven last Saturday in Bozeman after a strong second half. Bozeman scored three times in the first period, added two touchdowns in the second quarter, with a disputed final tally. A Beavers drive stalled at the two yard line before halftime.

Beaverheid County High Plans Four-Number Entertainment

Beaverheid County High School Student Association presents a four number entertainment course for all members and townspeople. Brown and Meneley open on Wednesday November 1 at the high school gym. The second number features Harry R. Reasoner and Leonard M. Nelson on November 24. Mme D Pirie Beyea discusses What Price Bolshevism followed by Utica Jubilee Singers in March and April. Season tickets cost one dollar. Individual admission is 35 cents for adults and high schoolers, 20 cents for grade school children. Proceeds go to student funds.

Mining revival seen near Argenta district

A car of ore from the Gladstone mine in the Argenta district is being loaded this week by Fred James. The Bourquin trucks haul ore from the mine to Dillon. A general revival of mining in the area this fall is reported with tent villages springing up in several locations.

Armistice Day Plans Outlined by Beaverhead Legion

Beaverhead post of the American Legion held a Thursday night meeting at city hall with many ex service men present. Commander Parke T Scott named the Armistice Day committee and outlined a public dance and banquet open to all veterans. An appeal was made to contact every county service member and Dr David Curry shared experiences from the Century of Progress exposition.
