Former Dillon matron Maude Gannon, a longtime Beav erhead County resident, died in San Bernardino California after an extended illness. Born April 13 1877 in Lincoln County Nevada she moved to Dillon with her parents as a child and lived there for years. Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 30 p m from Brundage Funeral Home with Rev J A Meeke of the Methodist church officiating. Interment will be Mountain View Cemetery. She is survived by four children four sisters a brother and six grandchildren and her mother Mrs E A Retallack of Dillon.

Five hundred Rambouillets crossbreeds and Hampshire rams will be offered at Dillon’s county stock pavilion on Saturday for the third annual Beaverhead ram sale. Seven leading southwestern Montana breeders have consigned, with Col. A. G. Jones of Miles City as auctioneer. Local and Idaho sheepmen are expected, and rams often remain near home to assist nearby flocks. The event, in the same ring as the Dillon bull sale, aims to improve regional flocks, says secretary-manager Bernard R. Williams.

Fire Season Reported As Average for Beaverhead Forest
W. B. Willey, Beaverhead National Forest supervisor, says the 1937 fire season was average with 19 fires in the summer. Ten were lightning caused and nine man made. 13 in class A, three in class B, and three in class C. Man caused fires rose to nine this year, above last year and the five year average. Fire danger ratings by day from June 15 to September 15 show classification levels from Class 1 to Class 3.
