City Council Discusses Signs and September Fire Report

City council met in regular session at city hall with O. M. Best presiding in Mayor White’s absence. Officials reported September arrests and $520 in fines, a $1,000 plumber bond was approved, and liquor licenses granted. An arc light proposal on Kentucky avenue was adopted. One September fire caused $800 damage with $500 insured. An ordinance limits sign overhangs and sets permit rules, with fines up to $50 for violations.

Concrete Buildings To Become Common In Dillon

Concrete block construction spreads in Dillon with a two story four room cottage on east Kentucky avenue built for Mr and Mrs Ross A Johns. John Kent is contractor and producer with a special mould system producing hollow 8x8x20 inch blocks that imitate cut stone. Blocks use five parts sand and gravel to one part cement and promise stronger warmer walls with easier plumbing and wiring.

Professor Meyers resigns from Beaverhead high school

Prof W H Meyers resigns as commercial department teacher at Beaverhead County High School this week to become bookkeeper and time keeper for Silver Fissure Mining at Polaris. Prof F D Willis of Twin Falls Idaho assumes charge. Meyers leaves after nearly two years of satisfactory service.

Dillon Couples Wed In Chicago And Dillon

Announcements note Clark Anderson and Miss Ella Pond Leland wed in Chicago last Saturday. The couple plan to live in Dillon after their return, with Ella a former Dillon teacher and Clark a longtime local businessman active in county politics. A second marriage at W T Mauldin’s residence on South Idaho Street joined Miss Nancy Featherly and Mr Emrys White with a formal ceremony and reception, followed by a honeymoon in New England before settling back in Dillon after December 1.

Mrs Lindfors and Daughter Visit Dillon Then Bannack

Mrs Lindfors and her daughter Miss Varena visited Dillon for several days. Miss Lindfors traveled to Dell to teach in the Smith McKnight family and Mrs Lindfors remained in the valley until Thursday when she returned to Bannack.

Registration Opens for Beaverhead County Voters

One week from next Monday the registration period begins for Beaverhead and other counties that have not adopted the primary election law. Qualified voters may register 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on October 15 to 27, with a second session on October 29 for those previously unable to register. All voters must register regardless of prior registration.

The groom, eldest son of Hon. B. F. White, Dillon senator and First National Bank president, began a business career after eastern schooling. The bride, second daughter of George R. Featherly, is a Dillon native with a polished education and wide circle of friends.

Two County Seats Linked by New Auto Service

Promoter J G Chichester introduces daily round trips between Dillon and Virginia City using two six passenger autos. Service starts at 6 AM from Dillon, with stops at Twin Bridges Sheridan Laurin Alder Ruby and ends at Virginia City by noon. Return trip departs 12 45 PM returning to Dillon by 6 PM.

Irvin Rich Laid At Rest In Dillon Funeral Held For Local Victim

The body of Irvin Rich who was killed in Livingston last Thursday night when struck by a locomotive arrived in Dillon Saturday. The funeral was conducted Sunday by Rev S D Hooker and Dr A B Martin on the Rich home lawn with music by the Episcopal choir. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery as a large procession accompanied the pallbearers Chester Gilbert Norman Gilbert Thomas Taylor Arthur Graeter Frank Sharkey and Arthur Conger. Rich, an only son and brother, had been active in the community and had recently had a Masonry application approved in Bozeman and was to receive the first degree last evening.

Narrow escape for Farlin hunter at Pothole lake

Charles Negus of Farlin and his nephew were hunting near Pothole lake when a revolver slipped from its scabbard and exploded. The bullet pierced his right arm above the wrist and a stone fragment slightly wounded his face. He traveled to Dillon for treatment by Dr. H A Bond and is recovering.

Burglaries Hit Dillon Hardware Store Wrecking Shop

Hughes and McCaleb faced a Wednesday night break in with a high valued Colt revolver three dozen razors two dozen knives and five dollars stolen. Entry used roof access, skylight window break and door bolt removal. Bert Miller linked to the scene visited Dillon and Salmon City after the crime.
