Mrs Waldorf 84 Dies at Dillon After Illness

Mrs Sarah D Waldorf 84 longtime Dillon resident died at Andrus hotel apartments Tuesday afternoon after weeks of illness She was born in England and came to America settling in Hays Center Kansas before moving to Dillon in 1890 She is survived by her son A F Waldorf daughter Mrs Harriet Tooby two grandsons Lansing and Morse Waldorf a granddaughter Jane Waldorf a great granddaughter and brother John Rodgers Her body will be shipped to Marlowtown for Friday funeral.

Film of Child City at Hartwig Shows Tomorrow’s Citizen

Hartwig theater presents the short informative film Tomorrow's Citizen alongside the feature. The Citizens of Tomorrow are Moodseheart Illinois orphans cared for by the Loyal Order of Moose, prepared for life’s challenges. Wayne Roberts led scoring and Malcolm Stone finished with the lowest at the Contract Bridge club gathering.

Mirth and Melody at Legion Show in Dillon

A 16 hour mix of music and comedy will be staged by the American Legion at the training school auditorium next Tuesday and Wednesday. Baxter-Tonrey’s orchestra provides music for three full acts and two curtain skits with shows starting at 8 p.m. Reserved seating is priced at half prior years, featuring local talent from Normal college and clubs including Claudia Faust School of Dancing and vaudevillians such as Leslie Hort.

Committee Appointed for Boy Scout Work

A local citizens committee was formed on Thursday night with Rev. J A Meeke J C Jepson and George Farrell named to plan a Scout leaders training course to be held this winter. Regional executive W L Hewand and Silver Bow area executive O E Hoover spoke on Scouting progress and future plans, about 20 people attended.

Christmas Seal Sale Opens This Week in Dillon

The Montana Tuberculosis Association launches its annual Christmas Seal drive under Shakespeare Club auspices. The campaign begins Sunday November 30 with business firms advised to use seals on December statements. Local leadership includes Jean Bishop and several Mrss and Miss Eastman coordinates student talks to boost 1984 seal drive across Dillon.

Christmas seal sale solicitors named for 1934 drive

Solicitors for the 1934 Christmas seal sale are listed for the drive from Friday November 30 to December 25. Names include Mrs Bates Mrs Nay Mrs Boone Mrs Tovey Mrs Harry Gilbert Mrs Galt and others across multiple streets with booths planned at two banks and the post office on December 15 and 22.

Consolidation of Precincts Urged in Beaverhead County

The Beaverhead board of county commissioners seeks to cut election costs by merging small precincts with larger ones following a Montana taxpayers association suggestion. Clerk Albert Baker mails ballots to 21 residents in Argenta Brenner Nicholia Glendale and Bishop urging approval or disapproval and prompt return.

Dillon Elks Host Boxing and Wrestling Night

After the regular Elks meeting on Tuesday evening a box ing and wrestling program entertained attendees. All contests were snappy and interesting with refreshments served at the close.

Plea of Guilty Entered by Moore in Second-Degree Murder

Jesse Moore 51 pleaded guilty in district court before Judge Lyman H. Bennett to second degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. He was taken to Deer Lodge after the pronouncement. Moore was held on a first degree assault charge following his arrest near Dell for striking George Winters with stove wood on Nov 9. Winters died last Monday, and first degree charges were prepared by County Attorney T. E. Gilbert. Funeral services for Winters were held Thursday. Rev. H. N. Tragitt officiated. Mrs. Anna Cowan and son Russell left Tuesday for Polson to spend the holidays with relatives.

Rotarians Host To Wisdom Lions Club

The Dillon Rotary Club hosted Lions Club guests from the Big Hole basin with Anaconda delegates. Dr. L G Dunlap announced the winter carnival January 18 to 20 in Butte, featuring a ski jump and other events.

Memorial Service by Dillon Elks This Sunday

The Dillon Elks lodge hosts its annual memorial service at the training school auditorium next Sunday evening. Charles Henry, superintendent of the Normal college training school, will give the address along with music and a commemorative ritual for departed members. W. E. Barry chairs the organizing committee.

Charity Ball Deemed A Great Success In Dillon

The third annual charity ball conducted by the Dillon Ulks' lodge drew a full house on Saturday night and raised about 3875 dollars in food donations for local relief. Canned goods varied widely and will be given to needy city families with some to the training school for rural lunches. Four orchestras provided music and the city hall hosting was donated.

Beaverhead county residents protest a precinct consolidation aimed at cutting election costs. Citizens insist longer travel to polling places harms turnout and in bad weather voting would be impossible.most opposition comes from distant precincts, showing geography shapes economy in local elections.

District Court to Convene in Beaverhead County Monday

Beaverhead district court opens Monday morning with Judge Lyman H. Bennett presiding. The State vs Samuel Hayden leads docket. Hayden is jailed on a murder charge for a fatal shovel blow to John O Connor on April 29. County Attorney T E Gilbert cites a family feud. John Collins is defense counsel.

Beaverhead Sheepmen Receive Government Payout

Beaverhead county sheepmen are set to collect 59582 dollars from the livestock purchasing plan at two dollars per head for 24791 sheep bought this fall. Most checks are available at the county agent's office. Some sheep went to market for relief organizations while the rest were condemned and culled. pelts saved. Final pelts shipment completed last Friday. The county allotment totaled 32000 head.

Dillon forms basketball study club under Montana Officials

Members of the Montana Officials association plus others met Monday at Dillon High School to organize a basketball study club. Elected officers are President W. J. Bierrum Vice President Carl Olson and Secretary Treasurer Cecil Musburger. Also present were Coaches Herbert Kakuske and Carl Ross Byron Sanborn W. Bjork and Archie Green. The club will meet 7 15 to 8 15 p m every Tuesday at the high school and invites all townspeople interested in basketball rules and interpretations.

Freshmen Sweep Interclass Hoop Tourney at Normal College

Montana State Normal College held an interclass basketball tournament with four matches over two nights. Freshman B beat freshman A 36 32 while sophomores edged junior seniors 43 40 in overtime. Final night saw freshman A beat junior seniors 38 26 and sophomores defeat freshman B 33 32.
