Legion to Present Friendly Enemies at Hartwig Theatre
The American Legion post brings the Broadway comedy drama Friendly Enemies to Hartwig theatre on December 5 and 6. Arthur Roberts directs and co-stars as the cast from Dillon grows toward completion. The patriotically themed play has enjoyed long runs in New York and Chicago and was filmed by Weber and Fields.

Holgar Carlson Named Embryo Stockman At County Fair
Holgar Carlson son of Mr and Mrs Walter Carlson received the purebred Hereford calf donated annually by George Clemon ranchman of the Big Hole basin for the top student in agricultural classes. The student will feed the calf until fall when it is shown as baby beef at the county fair and sold at auction. James Melton Jr last year won the Clemon calf and sold it for a $100 profit this fall.

Hoover Writes to Friend in Dillon
Dillon has four native born West Branch, Iowa, boys W T Scully Al Gruwell Charles Burden and Fred Kerr. Scully lived four miles from West Branch and shared a district school teacher who later taught Hoover. Gruwell, after the election, wrote to President-elect Hoover and received a personal letter of thanks from Hoover.

Skating Rink Under Way in Dillon This Winter
Preparations are well advanced for a Dillon skating rink to be supervised by D. P. Thurber. The vacant lots behind the county courthouse have been flooded and the rink will be ready when temperatures drop. It will be double the size of last year’s rink and will be lighted at night with a heated shack for skaters to rest and warm themselves.

In 1908 Roosevelt listened to Lodge’s nomination speech via four black disks containing telephone and phonograph gear hanging above delegates. The setup let him hear the speech from the White House, linking to the event. By 1928 national radio and telephone hookups carried the convention proceedings to the entire nation.
