James Kirkpatrick a Beaverhead County pioneer and early Banack settler died in Deer Lodge at 86. Born March 9 1848 in Boston he came to Montana with his brother in 1863. He helped found Edgerton store later ranching and served as an early Dillon postmaster. He authored Montana history articles and belonged to the Society of Montana Pioneers. His son Wylie of Missoula survives. burial planned in Dillon.
