John Albers was reelected president of the Beaverhead Silver Bow counties unit of the Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union at a Tuesday meeting at St. Rose guild hall. Holgar Carlson was elected vice president and Mrs. J. H. Keenan was reelected secretary treasurer. Payment of Taxes Shows Increase in Beaverhead County
Beaverhead county taxpayers are paying taxes at a higher rate with $32,764.20 collected through Tuesday, up from $24,729.33 a year ago. County treasurer Miss Bertie Mathews urges immediate payments to ease last minute congestion as the office prepares for the near deadline. Collections to date total about a tenth of the $323,295.61 owed, with roughly $290,000 left for the year.

Beaverhead post of the American Legion marked another Armistice Day with a capacity crowd at Hartwig theatre for a patriotic program led by Prof Rush Jordan and featuring the high school band under L A Gregory. Rev W J Lear gave the invocation as J C Wedum chaired the event, followed by a veterans banquet at the Andrus and an Auxiliary dinner at the Baptist cottage. Dillon lost 15-18 to Philipsburg in a late fourth quarter rally, while coach Carl Ross protested the California playoff format.

Judge Henry G. Rodgers cracked down on criminals with Farm er receiving three years for forgery and another three years for uttering a fictitious instrument. Officers said this was his second forgery offense. Farmer was arrested November 1 after forging employer John Ney’s name to a check. Everett Walters and Wesley Lantis got two years each for burglary tied to stealing eighty dollars from Circle Cafe on November 8. They entered via a rear air vent and were jailed by sheriff and city police.
