The initiation and dance scheduled by the DeMolays for Friday evening are postponed with the new date to be announced. Several members will be on the football team traveling to Idaho Falls later this week.
In district court at Butte William Brinig was authorized last Tuesday to settle for 1000 dollars a claim against Montana Power Company for the death of his son William Brinig Jr. who drowned June 14 in floodwaters from mountains above Wise River and whose body was never recovered.
Final chapter details Dillon hunters closing the 1927 deer season with several notable events. Mrs C D Webster becomes the season’s first woman hunter to report success in the Blacktail district. A mild drought is noted as impacting the season and multiple hunters share their close calls and near misses.
William R. Lewis a 25 year old recent city arrival pleaded not guilty in Judge Phillips court to seduction. He was bound over to the district court under a $5 000 bond which he could not furnish. He was arrested Wednesday morning by police.
The Carroll brothers trailing cattle from the mountains followed tracks into brush and found two large moose near the home ranch. It has been a long time since moose were seen in that part of the valley.
Mrs. Minerva C. Aiken has petitioned for probate of the will of her father Albert E. Cline who died in Wise River. The filing seeks formal recognition of the will and appointment of an executor.
The Beavers and Helena played a scoreless tie Friday as snow slowed the game. Beavers showed aerial threat with five completed passes, while Landers and Yost starred on defense. Bridgewater and Landers led Helena's defense.
The autumn quarter graduating class reaches twenty nine, the largest ever for the school. Many have teaching offers. others await calls. Exercises are set for November 30 with Principal Payne Templeton delivering the commencement address.
James Howard, 11, son of Mr and Mrs Joe Howard of North Idaho street, was seriously injured Tuesday when an arrow shot during a play named Indian struck him in the eye. Doctors report the sight may be permanently lost and the boy remains in dangerous condition.
Noted tenor Fenwick Newell, a distinguished young artist who performs at the Normal auditorium, has earned high esteem with coast to coast tours and recital circuits across the United States Canada and New Zealand. His appeal stems from a beautiful voice and strong technique while his training includes five years with Albert Ruff and seasons with Oscar Saenger and Frank LaForge.
Karl I. Ross of Hamilton and John Schneider of Alden in Dillon for an auction sale of polled Hereford bulls to be held in Dillon on Saturday, Nov. 26. The animals are high grade and expected to sell readily.
Undersheriff Carl Hartwig found two Ford cars abandoned after a head on collision south of Armstead last Sunday. License plates showed they belonged to two local ranchmen, one reportedly slightly hurt. The road was straight and smooth, and the cause remains unknown.
Edwin Pegram, Montana state college student and college band member, won the annual song contest dedicated to the Bobcats. His tune will be performed by the band at the football game in Butte next Saturday during the state college and university meet at Clark Park.
The public speaking class has organized into the Masque and Wig club with Miss Eleanor Wandry directing activities. Officers include Georgia Metlen as president Naomi Hildreth as vice president and Clifton McLaughlin as secretary treasurer.
The body of Alvin DeWitt was shipped last Saturday to his old home in Missouri for interment. DeWitt, a respected ranchman of Redrock, was known as an old-time figure in the community.
Beaverhead high school football travels to Idaho Falls for a final game against the Spud Raisers after a 2 4 1 season. Captain Yost Byron Orr Donald Light James Price Joe Landers and Amos Wright retire from high school play as basketball prep begins next week.
The Divide Big Hole river bridge near Wise River reopened to traffic Saturday after repairs cost about $17,000. The 152 foot concrete steel span rests on undamaged piers, marking end of a five month reconstruction after last June flood. Beaverhead County officials directed the effort to prevent impassable routes as heavy snows approached.
