Senator Watson declares Congress will do everything possible to stop the Mississippi floods and insists half a billion dollars is worth the cost to prevent further billion-dollar flood damages. He credits Hoover and engineers and urges unified national effort.
John Seybold, a 71 year old farmer, paid 7500 to a medium after hearing a spirit named Sarah. He funded a wedding dress and donated 500 for wayward girls hoping for a promised earth arrival and marriage. Sarah never appeared and the farmer faces disappointment.
A sixty one year old Princess Victoria Schaumberg Lippe wishes to wed a twenty seven year old Russian, but a Lutheran clergyman refuses on ethics grounds. The piece argues marriage should be judged by spirit, cites biblical examples, and compares royal titles to histories of easy virtue.

A blaze originating from a short circuit in a Mar mon touring car caused extensive damage to the car basement and flooring of L. K. Adams home on the west side last Friday afternoon. Mrs. J. H. Dickey alerted the fire department after seeing smoke about 2 PM. The car was moved from the basement and the fire extinguished with some insured loss. Five Dillon car owners were fined $10 each in police court for interfering with fire crews and driving over hoses.
District Governor Frank H. Hazelbaker reports the Friendship wheel has visited Dillon Anaconda Philipsburg Butte and Helena with remaining clubs listed in order. He notes nine clubs visited in the past month and Anaconda won October attendance bell.
A. W. Stephenson Jr. of Dillon, son of Mr and Mrs A W Stephenson, has flown more than 50 hours by air since birth. He first flew before turning one and recently rode through rough air from Missoula to Dillon under his father’s piloting. He cheerfully shouted Ride em cowboy to his mother during the trip.
The first division commencement for the class of 1928 occurs Wednesday at 10 30 with processional invocation violin solo Angels Serenade address by Principal Payne Templeton. The program lists diplomas presented by President, with benediction and recessional, and includes names and addresses of graduates.
In Butte last Saturday 6000 fans saw a dramatic finish as Cosselshurdon chased a one yard touchdown reception from Chinoke, giving the Grizzlies a hard earned win over the Bobcats. Monk Cashmore of Dillon played for Bozeman while Missoula fans argued over the classic matchup.
Mayor Roscoe Cornell endorses the annual Christmas seal sale urging broad support. The stamps, symbols of Christmas spirit, back tuberculosis campaigns nationwide for 19 years, with the penny health seal conveying goodwill and health benefits.
The Mudro bowling champs of Butte defeated a local Dillon team by just over 100 pins in a Tuesday match, 2647 to 2535, praising Dillon alleys as excellent. The Dillon squad will visit Butte in early December for a rematch at the Marquette alleys with players including Butte Dazzie Deavers Remneas Mudro C.Mudro and Dillon Vandegrift J Brundage Dart H Brundage and Ross.
The Dillon Rotary club at the Andrus hotel endorsed the Beaverhead post of the American Legion project to hold the mining district basketball tournament here in February or March with support from at least two local organizations. Talks included turkey care by Rollin Thibadeau and a Thanksgiving address by Prof. Ro. Albright.
The second Red Cross roll call will be held next Saturday Nov. 26 announced by Fred Rife county roll call chairman. The drive uses the same method as last week with a 500 membership quota hoped to be reached. City totals show 216 cards issued last week.
Blondy Stewart is jailed on an assault charge preferred by W. C. Griffith. He pleaded not guilty in justice court and was bound over to district court for trial. Stewart and his wife recently returned from New York City after his sensational steer ride at Madison Square Garden rodeo.
Merchants and post office officials report an early start to Christmas shopping as Dijon stores showcase a wide gift selection and shoppers buy 10 days ahead. Postmaster J C Fuller urges customers to mail packages and cards early to avoid delivery delays amid expected rush. Local retailers tout exceptional value, predicting minimal out of town shopping this season.
Dillon shipped 8 carloads or 745,787 pounds of wool last summer and fall, the largest total among Montana shipping points. Montana total wool shipments reached 24,083,648 pounds, earning growers about 8.17 million dollars at an average price of 34 cents per pound.
The dramatic class will present Dulcy a three act comedy of modern society directed by Miss Eleanor Wandry. Seven men and three women will have parts with casting to be announced, and the play is scheduled after the Christmas holidays.
