Armistice Program Highlighted by Rotary Meeting
The Rotary club devoted its Monday program to Armistice Day and American Legion interests. Earl L. Fairbanks, district Legion commander, gave a principal address comparing romantic soldier life with harsh reality. He noted peace since 1918 has not been worldwide and praised the Legion’s service to prevent future wars.

Pioneer Matron Mary Currie French Dies in Dillon
Mrs. Mary Currie French a long time Dillon resident died at home on South Washington after a lingering illness. Born February 4 1854 in St. Louis Canada she lived in Taunton Massachusetts before marrying Charles G. French in 1882. Survived by three daughters two of whom reside in Dillon and Mrs Frank Sullivan of St Paul. Funeral held at St Rose Catholic Church with Rev Lechner officiating.

A burglar who looted the Barrett home last Wednesday left a note guiding detectives to a dog kennel where five diamond rings and a brooch were recovered under sand. About $36 in cash remains missing as officers press clues in a mystery of entry between 10 am and 1 pm.

Mrs. J. W. Tait, longtime Dillon resident and wife of the late Rev. Tait, died Friday morning at her Santa Monica home. The couple lived in Dillon over 40 years ago and were held in high esteem by the community.

A large Dillon audience gathered for a Republican rally at Hartwig Saturday night. Speakers included congressional candidate Mark D. Fitzgarrald and Tom Davis of Butte. J. E. Monroe presided as county candidates joined the platform and Fitzgarrald addressed the crowd for about 45 minutes.
