Sixty graduates received diplomas at Beaverhead County High School commencement held Thursday night in the gym. Valedictorian Jane Waldorf and salutatorian George Kennedy led the ceremony. Principal J. E. Monroe presented the candidates as Pearl S. Smith conferred diplomas. The scholarship cup went to Jane Waldorf and the alumni cup to Lew Brundage. The program included performances by the school orchestra under L. A. Gregory, a vocal solo by Mrs. Amos Wright, with Nellie Little Poole on piano, and prayers by the Rev. H. J. Schmidt.

Auxiliary Poppy Sale Success Reported
Estimates from the American Legion auxiliary show more poppies sold than last year. About 800 poppies were ordered and the sale will fall short of that number. In 1935 only 500 were disposed of. Mrs. Fred Critz chaired the committee with volunteers canvassing the city.

Young Bike Riders to Form Safety Club in City
Youths gathered at city hall for the Safety Club plan sponsored by Beaver Head post. T. Lee McCracken and Dale Tash R. D. Curry and Slim Sutherland chaired. Mayor Galt and Police Chief Nelson spoke on safety rules and a ten item Safe Bike Rider Code was distributed. A meeting next Thursday will elect officers by-laws and launch the club with Legion advisory support. Superintendent Charles Henry backs the effort with school talks and code distribution. Membership buttons will be issued to new members at the organization meeting.

Gasoline tax refunds total over a million in 1935 36
State Auditor John J. Holmes released figures showing the gasoline license drawback fund paid out refunds totaling over one million dollars in 1935 and by May 1 1936. Auto crash injures two near Normal College turn
Edgar Rife and Toke Contway were taken to Barrett hospital after a late Thursday night collision at the state highway turn near Normal College. Contway suffered deep head injuries. Rife was stunned but undamaged beyond shock as they were returning from a business trip to Sheep Creek basin.
