Memorial weekend fills Dillon with outdoor trips and tributes
The Great Outdoors drew Dillon residents away for a double holiday as crowds traveled to camping sites and fishing streams. Memorial services were held by Beaverhead post of the American Legion at Mountain View cemetery. Thousands of flowers marked the occasion as relatives gathered. dances occurred at Dilmont Park and a park party hosted by Dillon Ellis.

Annual Dance Revue Sees Dillon Talent Shine

Safe Bike Rider Club Meeting Planned at City Hall
This week the Safe Bike Rider’s club will hold a Thursday evening meeting at 7:30 at City Hall, announced by Legion Chairman T Lee McCracken. Last week over 40 youths attended and pledged to bring others. charter membership aims for at least 150 Dillon youths. Mayor Galt and Police Chief Nelson back the club as a tool to protect juveniles, with members pledging to follow safety rules and be accountable to their organization.

Red Cross unit to exhibit work in Dillon county
The Red Cross unit of Dillon and Beaverhead County led by Mrs. Ida L. Olson plans an early public exhibit on South Idaho Street to showcase eight women producing garments since last winter. They have made 2,826 items including baby dresses towels quilts and clothing from donated or new materials for those in need.

4-H boys and girls will survey farms and communities to aid rural electrification aimed at over one million farm electric connections by year end. Francis E B Foote longtime Dillon Tribune editor dies at home in Dillon on Tuesday after months of illness. Born Ithaca New York June 16 1857 he moved west in 1882 and began editing the Tribune in 1887 serving for decades. Married Ida May Massey April 15 1880 the couple celebrated a golden anniversary in 1980. He leaves nieces and nephews and his funeral is set for Friday at 2 30 pm at Brundage chapel with interment at Mountain View cemetery beside his wife.

Aged resident Manly Ellingsworth dies at 87
Manly Ellingsworth aged 87 died Thursday at a Butte hospital and body was brought to Dillon for interment. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Brundage chapel with Rev. J A Meeke of Grace Methodist church officiating. Interment followed at Point of Rocks cemetery. Born July 20, 1848 in Illinois, he lived in Kansas and Texas before moving to Montana in 1914. He farmed and ran a Madison county ranch until retirement. His wife died in 1922. Surviving are daughter Eunice Sewell of Dillon, sons Rolla of North Dakota and Frank of Kansas, fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Accidental Shot Fatal To Child In Montana Ranch Trip
Four year old Richard Watts, son of Mr and Mrs Robert Watts, died at Barrett hospital from a bullet wound in the throat after pulling a .22 pistol from the car seat and firing it accidentally. The incident happened Friday noon while the family fished near their ranch 26 miles southwest of Dell. Dr G L Routledge met the party near Armstead to treat him. Funeral services were held Tuesday at St James Episcopal Church with Rev H N Tragitt officiating and burial in Mountain View cemetery. The death shocked the close knit community.
