Anglers Open 1938 Season Amid Cloudy Waters

Hundreds fished Beaverhead county streams and lakes as the 1938 season began despite dull weather. Some creels filled while others found fish reluctant to bite, with anglers refitting gear and stores reporting strong fishing equipment sales. The State Game Commission set fishing closures and seasonal limits for streams and lakes in the Big Hole basin, including year round bans on several tributaries and a March 15 to July 1 closed period for numerous lakes and feeder streams. Open year rules suspend on Upper and Lower Red Rock lakes.
