A large crowd enjoys the May Day fete at Montana State Normal College in a colorful musical with 250 participants. Grace M. Benning is queen, Helen L. Hays maid, and solo roles include Marjorie Opp and Dorothy Ann Gosman. The offices will move to the Montana Mercantile building around July 1, occupying the lower floor and rear warehouse space. Fire destroys Bert Selway ranch home near Dillon
The Bert Selway ranch home, about three miles south of the city, was completely destroyed by a noon Saturday fire likely sparked by the chimney. Neighbors and Dillon volunteers rushed to the scene but a strong wind fed flames. the two story, newly built house had no insurance and most contents were removed by bystanders.

Argenta Man Held for Calf Killing
Charles Larson was arrested at his Argenta home on a calf killing charge after a missing yearling calf belonging to the Knapp ranch was found in parts on the premises. Items believed taken from the Ermont mine were also found. Larson pleaded not guilty in justice court and posted a $3,000 bond. Larry Donoho was being sought by officers.

Well Known Couple Weds in Great Falls
A wedding in Great Falls drew local notice as Miss Thelma Wilson of Gallup City near Conrad wed O. T. Vandegrift of Dillon. Attendants were Miss Gladys McLean and Otto Sassman. Hazelbaker to speak at Sidney bridge dedication
Lt. Gov. Frank A. Hazelbaker has accepted an invitation to join speakers at Sidney’s July 4 bridge dedication. Gov. Shafer of North Dakota and Rep. Leavitt are also billed, with Wheeler, Warden, and highway officials expected. A large barbecue with four steers and a record Eastern Montana crowd are planned.

Benjamin Holzer a longtime employee of the late Prank Landon and a well known Blacktail sheepman died at his home Saturday morning after a long cancer illness. A Swiss native he was 69 and had lived in the region sixteen years. Funeral services were held Monday at Brudage chapel with Rev. F X Lechner of St Rose officiating and burial followed at Mountain View cemetery.

Local man dies by self-inflicted gunshot in Dillon cabin
Joe Barber 45 known as Whitey found in his North Idaho street cabin slumped against the wall with a 488 caliber revolver bullet through his head. Coroner James Phillips says no inquest. Barber borrowed the gun from Joe Stroud and had talked of a rabbit trip earlier on the day. Funeral planned Friday at Brundage chapel at 3 PM.
