High School Alumni To Honor Bea verhead Graduates
Bea verhead County High School graduates will be guests of the alumni association at a gymnasium dance after commencement. Alumni plan an orchestra and a 40 cent charge for members, guests free. Officers elected: Mrs. Eddie Boger president, Barry Caskin vice president, Aileen Derry secretary and treasurer. Maybelle Stevens of Missoula visited and reports her aunt Mrs. J W Kinney is seriously ill in a Butte hospital.

The annual Beauverheak Stockgrowers Association meeting was held last Saturday afternoon at the courthouse with about 25 ranchmen in attendance. Officers were re-elected: J. E. The American Legion unit invites all Dillon youths up to 17 and ex-ball players to a meeting Friday May 26 at 7 30 p m at city hall. A four team junior baseball league may be formed in Dillon with possible county teams to follow. If material is strong a Dillon representative team could enter state contests. Renewal of Operations at Elkhorn Foreseen
Helena reports say W R Allen and associates filed with the secretary of state articles of incorporation for the National Montana and Boston Mining Company with $12,000,000 authorized capital and a $2700 filing fee. No plans were disclosed. Rumors say the former lieutenant governor may renew operations in Elkhorn and French Gulch to readjust the Boston and Montana Corporation.

May Festival at Normal College Delights Large Audience
Frances Bovee of Great Falls crowned queen as Normal College hosts a May Day pageant in the gymnasium. The program featured sixteen dances by over 200 students and training school pupils, with Aileen Berry Dillon and Florence Murphy Great Falls among candidates. Directed by Marjorie Hamer, Pauline Dorchak, and others, the event celebrated immigrant themes through a shiplike stage presentation.

Legion completes plot improvement at Mountain View Cemetery
The Bea verhead post finished grass sowing on a 70 by 70 foot plot at Mountain View Cemetery. Enclosed by cement coping and with a sprinkler system, the site will host a flagpole and a future monument. Plans include inviting local and fraternal groups to similar plots on other corners.

W A Graeter of the county relief board reports a forestry headquarters wire from Missoula stating Beaverhead quota of twelve forestry workers will reach Sheridan next Tuesday May 30 and proceed to the newly established camp at the Ruby ranger station.

L R Banning Dies After Illness In Dillon
Lycurgis Banning aged 60 died at his Dillon home after a long illness. A former miner in Elk Horn and Polaris districts, he was born in Nebraska City and moved to Montana 44 years ago. He leaves a widow, his father S A Banning, several children and brothers. The funeral will be Thursday at St James Episcopal Church with Rev H N Tragitt officiating, interment in Mountain View Cemetery.

Marie Wilkinson of Intermont Union College Helena won the tenth annual Intercollegiate Oratorical Association contest held at the Line auditorium Montana Normal. She received a loving cup gold medal and $20 for Which Way America. Ke McGownts Carletcottere Helena placed second on Youth and Problems Today earning a silver medal and $20. John Strosky Normal College took third with International Honor earning a bronze medal and $10. Miss Berniece Metlen president of the Beaverhead unit of the American Legion auxiliary announces the annual poppy sale will be held in Dillon on Saturday May 27. Only veterans hospital produced poppies will be sold by auxiliary members to meet the quota and honor those who served.

Fay Erwin chaired the Dillon Rotary gathering at the Medlen hotel with visitors Earl Fairbanks William Irwin and Dr D Semrau. Reports from the Livingston district convention were given by T L McCracken W W Wahl Sheldon E Davis and T J Luckben. Prof R J Albright spoke on current events analyzing economic and disarmament conferences and noted Roosevelt Ramsey McDonald Mussolini and Hitler roles. Irwin of Idaho spoke on road improvements and Fairbanks urged a junior baseball league for local youth. Ladies night is planned for the next meeting and about forty seniors visited Armstead for a Roscoe Gordon party with a late midnight snack.

Beaverhead High Holds 1961 Commencement and Musical Program
Beaverhead County High School celebrated its 1961 commencement with baccalaureate at the Methodist church led by Rev. F. X. Lechner. The graduating class of 61 wore caps and gowns. A large crowd attended the baccalaureate services, followed by an annual music concert in the gym featuring the girls glee club and band ensembles under Lenore T. McCollum and L. A. Gregory. Hazel Stone of Great Falls and Dillon violist Bill Bates joined performances by Tom Luebben, Tom Newnes, Harrison Kellum, and Harold Wheat. Solo and ensemble pieces included Moszkowski, Romberg, Gottschalk, and Sousa selections. The class day exercises named James Doyle as historian and Margaret Sweeney as will writer, with Lulu Belle Gilman reciting the class poem and Frank Tyre presenting the cane to Jack Gilbert.

County Federation Holds Semi-Annual Session Here
County Federation of Women's Organizations met in Dillon on Saturday under the Dillon Shakespeare club. Morning program featured a home nursing demonstration, kindergarten band, and address by Mrs. George A. Roosevelt of Butte. Afternoon session opened with a vocal solo and continued at St James guild hall after a noon luncheon.
