Doc Erwin and Chas Sassman tracked two men near Bond after a Mead place burglary. The pair wore army khaki and claimed to be civilians but admitted desertion from Salt Lake Fort. They sold a gun for four bits and were sent to Fort Harrison Helena for further handling.

New Light on Mexican War Senator Cites El Paso Letter
Senator Fall of New Mexico read in the senate an interview printed in an El Paso newspaper May sixth claiming the Japanese government backed the Orozco rebellion in Mexico. Fall said the letter was forwarded by an American residing in Mexico and vouched for its writer.

Ranger slays bear with rocks near Bozeman
Fred E. Ainger, a forest ranger at Big Creek, Bozeman, killed a large black bear with rocks after forgeting gear. He struck the bear between the eyes and again at the same spot, dragged the carcass to his horse, and plans to feast on bear meat. The tale spreads among locals.

He has served six years as division freight and passenger agent for the Short Line in Butte. E A Shewe will succeed him as city ticket agent at Ogden.
