Held B by Yolfers. First foursome tourney opens season

The Dil lon Country Club hosted the first foursome tourney of the year with about 70 players. Gilbert and Vance posted the best gross score for nine holes at 43, while Alvin Jones and Mrs. J. G. Wedum led low net with 36 on a 14 handicap. Multiple pairings produced strong scores and two prize events are scheduled for next Sunday including a mystery contest for ladies and a mashie or blind bogey format for men.

Boy Scouts Well Organized Here

Field Executive Krause visited from May 14 to 20 and found the local Boy Scout unit well organized. He praised the boys and the support from the executive council and Scout officials, outlining plans for the local court of honor and Scout Leaders' training.

The large pavilion at Dillmont Park hosts the alumni dance for the 1930 Beaverhead County High School graduates. Baccalaureate at Grace Methodist with Rev J D Smith. Spring concert May 26 at the gym features band orchestra and vocal groups under A L Gregory and Lenore Thompson. Troop 14 second group formation and area rally prep noted. A log house on North Pacific Street owned by Matt Rebich was struck by a Wednesday morning fire of unknown origin. Interior gutted by flames. fire department responded to the blaze.

Memorial Day Services Held By Beaverhead Post

Beaverhead post of the American Legion plans Memorial Day activities Friday next week with a morning program, graveside decorations at Mountain View cemetery, and a new post ritual. Delegates from the Mining district arrive for the June 14 Dillon convention, featuring a business session, banquet, drum corps drill between Butte and Anaconda, and a dance.

Esteemed Former Resident Mrs West Dies in Longview

Walter W West formerly Laura Guyar of Armstead died Wednesday night at Longview Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness. She was born in Beaverhead county in 1890 and educated in Dillon. Survived by husband, three children Louise Margaret Arnold, brother Henry Guyaz of Salmon, sister Miss Sophia Guyaz of Armstead. Henry Weare of the Montana State Press association visited the city Thursday.

County political race gains daily as new candidates enter

Over the past week Beaverhead County saw multiple filings for party nominations. Be active entries include Dan L. Mooney for sheriff on the Republican ticket, Jures Phillips for coroner, Bertie Mathews for county treasurer on the Democratic ticket, Gladys Garr for school superintendent on the Republican ticket, T. S. Gilbert for county attorney, George Opp for justice of the Dillon township, and B. J. Metlen for state representative on the Democratic ticket. Young man wins honor trip abroad from Tabor Academy

Dillon and Armstead of Mare learn their grandson is among the honor students chosen for the annual Tabor Academy cruise. This year the group visits Guatemala and Old Mexico, with five seniors and juniors also selected to study in Germany. The aim is to foster international understanding and a positive American-German impression.

W. F. Henneberry Called By Death

Beaverhead resident William F. Henneberry died of a sudden stroke at his home on South Dakota street. The 1859 born ranchman is survived by his widow, two sons Dan and Ambrose, a brother M. A. Henneberry, and sister Mrs. M. Gleason of Spokane. Funeral was at St. Rose Catholic church with interment in Mountain View cemetery. pallbearers named.

Beaverhead High to Graduate Eighth Grade Class of 24

Approximately half of Beaverhead High Spring movers on to a new class of graduates from the eighth grade. A class of 24 will receive diplomas Wednesday evening. Commencement speaker will be Miss Genevieve Albertson of Normal College. Graduates include Hella Andersen and 23 others. Mrs. John F Bishop and daughters plan a motor trip to Southern California starting Tuesday. Lenore Thompson to join in Salt Lake City.

Dartmouth Bound Student Marc Plans Graduation
