Pioneer Stage Driver of Gem State Is Dead
Alex Waugh a Lemhi county Idaho stage driver and mining associate died after a long illness at 78. Born January 19 1860 in Peoria Illinois he moved west at 19 and drove Salmon to Junction routes in the 1880s later engaging in mining ventures in Idaho and Montana. Survived by wife and two sons W. D. Waugh Dillon and B J Waugh Colton California. Last rites held Monday at the Pence chapel.

The post office will conduct a special mail pickup between Lima and Dillon on Thursday May 19 as part of National Air Mail Week. Lima postmaster Clay Patterson departs Lima at 11 30 AM to reach Dillon for the afternoon airmail flight. Dillon aviator Fred Woodside will pilot the mail from Dillon to Twin Bridges and on to Butte. County school children are urged to write at least one airmail letter next week.

At Lima, Beaverhead chapter of the Montana Education Association elected Gladys Forrester president, W. J. Bierrum vice president, and Charles Henry secretary treasurer for the coming year. G. W. McMullin of Lima chaired a 6 o'clock dinner for about 40 teachers. A Lima school program followed, directed by Miss Wileen Richardson, featuring a second grade rhythm band, mixed quartet, and a trombone solo.
