Freshman J. Ethel Kennedy was electer queen of the Beaverhead court at the Fools Frolic held March 31 and April. She received the most votes while Woody Jening came in second, and Francis Beanon presided at the coronation on April 1 with Mrs. C P Willis in charge of ceremonies.

Brown's Lake, long a fishing and floating resort, has new management and will reopen June 1 as a scenic Montana dude ranch. A new access road will be built, cabins renovated, trails created, saddle horses kept for tourists, pack trips to Elk Horn organized, and motor boats offered for rent to ensure comfort and enjoyment.

Pioneer Rancher Orlando Mast Dies at 84 in Dillon Area
Orlando Mast, 84, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Rebecca Connelley on Thomson Avenue after a lingering illness. Born May 21, 1849 in Ohio, he lived as a pioneer rancher in the county with his wife Mary Tritt Mast. He moved from Birch Creek to Mountain Home in 1914 and had 16 children, 34 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending with relatives planning to attend.

May Fete at Montana State Normal to Feature Queen of India
Plans for the annual May fete at Montana State Normal College call for over 200 students and pupils. The event moves to the gymnasium and features a Queen of India theme with visitors from many lands and a staged program including elaborate costumes and a giant ship centerpiece. The May Queen will be revealed at the fete.

Believed Monida Robbers Likely Same Group
An investigation by Sheriff Orr and Deputy Barry into the Monida Mercantile robbery last Tuesday night strengthens the theory that the same men who stole gas from J W Walters and the Dickey store in town are the suspects. Tire tracks tie the crimes together and the men reportedly headed into Idaho after the theft. The Monida store loot includes six leather coats several pairs of shoes a few hats a gun ammunition cigarettes and small cash amount with some other items not listed in the inventory.

Chairman Investigates Work On Highways
Louis Schmittroth, appointed last fall as employment committee chairman, traveled to Lima last Saturday to review employment conditions on a highway project in southern Beaverhead County. He works with Parke T. Scott of Armstead and other committee members O. C. Gosman of Lima T. E. Gilbert and F. G. Lyon of this city. The committee was formed to ensure local worker employment on federal projects and previously reported harmonious relations with contractors.

Mrs. Mary Agnes Meers aged 80 died at Barrett hospital after a several week illness caused by a broken hip from a fall at her North Dakota street home. Born in County Limerick Ireland on August 5 1863 she came to the United States as a young woman and lived in the area since 1909. Surviving: son Joe Meers San Francisco daughters Mrs. McPhee Billings Mrs. Morton Creswell Ore four grandchildren. Prominent Former Dillon Resident Dies at 72
Coleman C. Barnett, longtime Dillon rancher and Hereford breeder, died of a heart attack Friday at his Livingston area home. He lived in Dillon earlier, worked with William Reed, and supervised the Beaverhead county farm. Surviving are his widow, two sons Lloyd and Raymond, a daughter Mrs. A. S. Johnson, two sisters, and eight grandchildren. Burial followed a Monday service at Mountain View cemetery.
