The Chinook annual by the senior class of Montana State Normal College went on sale Tuesday. It runs 120 pages with halftone engravings and class drawings. Editors praise its success and first effort. Copies cost 75 cents. available from Alma Earnest at Normal Hall or Tribune Store.
The Dick P. Sutton novelty plans two performances in a large waterproof tent opposite the depot where last August’s street fair was held. Tonight and tomorrow night the crowd is expected to fill the venue. Mr and Mrs Walter J Crowell of Sheepcreek basin visited Dillon friends recently.
The Dillon district No 10 board met in executive session and re elected the entire Public school faculty for the coming year. Names and salaries include Miss Innes first grade $89, Miss Burke second grade $80, Miss Jeffries third grade, Miss Tattersall fourth grade $75, Miss Myers fourth grade $70, Miss McCartney fifth grade, Mrs Mary Gannon sixth grade $75, Miss Leland seventh grade $85, Miss Dorchester eighth grade $90.
Chaplain G H Jones arrived from Helena last Saturday and filled regular appointments at the Methodist church on Sunday. He spoke forcefully to large, pleased congregations and shared many Spanish American War reminiscences from his army days in the Philippines. He returned to Helena and will fill Grace M E church pulpit regularly until August conference when he may be appointed pastor.
The New York press reports that former foe F Augustus Heinze may succeed William A Clark in the U S Senate as part of a clandestine settlement ending Montana copper strife. Clark would not seek re election next year and Heinze would win the seat, reshaping Montana politics.

Helena Mont May 9 Livestocks must be assessed in the county of its accustomed range says Attorney General Albert J Galen in reply to Sweet Grass county probe The Bloomington Land and Livestock Co owns land in Sweet Grass and Meagher counties herds cattle eight months in Sweet Grass and the rest in Meagher The stock must be assessed in Sweet Grass county with its range the owner must report to the county assessor or the assessor may estimate and tax the head.
The Montana State Sunday School Association will hold its seventeenth annual convention in Dillon from May 22 to 24 at Grace M E church. Noted visitors include Mrs Mary Foster Bryner and Rev W C Merritt with other clergy from Helena Bozeman and Columbus. Delegates attend among lodging meals rail certificates and program features talks on building lessons Bible study and training future teachers.
S. S. Carruthers & Co. sold Saturday to a stock company named Dillon Coal and Transfer. Wm. T. Scully becomes manager with Thomas M. Selway and Carruthers as directors. Capital stock is $2,500. The firm vows to improve service and keep Dillon customers fully satisfied.
The executive board met Tuesday evening to appoint the faculty for the ensuing year. New appointments include Henry H. Swain as president and economist, R J Monroe as vice president and physics chemist, William C Bagley as training director and psychology educator, and C g Fenner and Squire in education and training supervision. Several departments were not renewed due to financial stringency and music appointments were postponed to a later date.
Mr and Mrs Jr W Lusher hosted a dinner for Anson Baxter to celebrate his 85th birthday. Guests included Enos Coffin John Shively Dr A B Martin Dr H W Tilden A Sullivan C Comstock Henry Burfield G W Lovell J W Baxter and Anson Baxter Jr.
The Tripune reports five Bozeman Experimental Station pamphlets Nos. 56 to 60. Bulletins cover Native Economic Plants of Montana, Pig Feeding results, Fattening Cattle, Sheep Feeding, and Onion Growing. Copies are free by writing to the Bozeman station.
The May term in Dillon opens before Judge Lew L. Callaway. Only two criminal cases on the docket. many civil matters to be dispatched quickly. Notable actions include overruled motions, adjournments, admissions to citizenship, and planning for the large Big Water suit Morgan v Nyhart et al with many out of town lawyers present. The court set multiple trial dates for assault and property cases and began without a jury in the Morgan suit, expected to span several days.
