Paint party masked assault and feud at Bannack over mining stakes
Ray Harris of Salt Lake City allegedly was dragged from a hotel room by four masked men, dunked in a ditch, and forced to pull up mining stakes after disputes over unsurveyed Bannack land. He later filed warrants against Bannack residents, but charges were dropped and a venue change followed. Harris is reportedly a Salt Lake Tribune staffer on layoff.

The Wood Live Stock company bought the Frying Pan Basin Sheep company including nearly 9 000 acres and about 12 000 head of sheep in a deal worth about 75 000 dollars. Former state senator James P. Murray sold all except the Bond ranch on Birch creek and will continue to operate his ranch north of Dillon. Frank J. Hagenbarth of Wood Livestock company handled the acquisition and the property will be operated immediately.
