Fencing Contracts Awarded in Beaverhead National Forest
Thirteen new fencing projects spread from the Big Hole basin to Madison valley have been let to ranchers under the range improvement plan funded by national relief funds. Four thousand five hundred eighty eight rods of fence will be built as CCC crews from Beaverhead county depart for Butte. Livestock on forest ranges will be slowed fifteen days earlier than usual due to early vegetation growth and a dry season warning prompts burning permits after May 1.

Ranchman of Dies Dies Dies Creek Man Dies at Ranch Home
Napoleon Goyer 78 died Monday at his ranch home on Dies Creek west of Dillon after a brief illness. He leaves his widow two sons Frank and Earl, and was a Montreal native who came to Montana in 1888 living in Melrose before moving to Bannack in 1915 to run a boarding house then a sheep ranch. Funeral was held Wednesday at Brundage funeral home with Rev. J A Meeke officiating and interment at Mountain View. Sneak Day observed by Beaverhead county high seniors last Friday with trips to Greyson Springs led by Julian Anderson and Markus Ovren.

Tragedy in Railroad Yards Claims Local Herder
Lawrence Slattery, about 60, found dead on the railroad right of way near Dillon Sunday morning after a flight struck him. He slept on the rails with his sheep dog guarding the body until officers lassoed the dog. Slattery, a Kentucky native on parole from Somerset, had lived in Dillon two years and came from Rawlins, Wyoming. Coroner ruled no inquest. burial at Mountain View after services at Brundage funeral home.

Emmett Allison Dies After Long Illness in Dillon
Emmett E. Allison 65 a longtime Dillon resident died Wednesday at the county farm where he had been an inmate for years. Born July 28 1869 in Boonville Missouri he moved to Dillon around 1901 working in ranching and contracting. A former Dillon police officer he is survived by a brother in Rincon New Mexico another brother and two sisters. Funeral held Saturday at Brundage chapel with interment at Mountain View cemetery.

Runaway Truck Blamed for Park Street Crash in Butte
Miss Genevieve Metlen recalls parking near Gamer store when a bumping truck forced her vehicle down Park Street. Mrs Theresa Danali suffered serious injuries when pinned between the auto and Metals Bank wall. Metlen contends the truck caused the crash by bumping her car to create space. Esteemed Dillon Matron Jessie Vanderrift Dies After Long Illness
Bannack resident Mrs. Jessie Vanderrift died Tuesday at 5 15 PM at her son's Rathoad avenue home after a two year illness. Born 1875 in New Digons Wisconsin she married Oscar W. Vanderrift in 1898. She came west as a young woman and lived in Dillon since 1915. Survived by daughter Mrs. Macie Hoerming and two sons O T and Maud both of Dillon, plus mother Mrs. Bertha Thompson five brothers six sisters and one grandchild. Funeral arrangements not yet set.
