Fourth of July celebration planned as all-day event
City hall hosts plans for the biggest Fourth since 1929 with an all day program. A morning registered shoot attracts outside contenders while an afternoon features sports at the fair grounds. Potential games include CCC camp ball or Legion versus outside team, plus potato and pie contests and greased pig fun. At five pm picnics in the park precede evening entertainment and a big finale. Committee led by D W Paddock with sub leaders for grounds, park, business, dance, sports, construction and publicity.

Federal Building Promised Work in Dillon Plans
A 1935 communication from the Treasury Department outlines that drawings and specifications for a proposed Federal Building in Dillon will go to market around May 1. Bid openings are expected within 80 days, with a probable construction contract awarded by June if a bid is acceptable. The building will be on the Sadie Poindexter property at Idaho and Sebree streets and will house the post office forestry department and county agent office.

Dillon Rotarians traveled to Helena for the Montana district conference that began Sunday. Dr. Sheldon E. Davis chaired a luncheon, Dr. W. H. Stepham sang, and Dr. R. E. Albright spoke. Delegates included President T. E. Luebben and Dr. Albright along with T. E. Gilbert, T. Lee McCracken, Charles Henry, F. A. Hazelbaker, W. W. Wahl, and Fred Woodside. Famer Smith of Monida also visited Dillon for business matters.

Immunization Clinic Treats 279 Children
A total of 279 children received diphtheria and smallpox vaccines at a training school clinic over two days. Seventy-seven were from out of town on Wednesday morning and 132 from District No. 10 on Thursday, with local doctors assisted by Luella Stickney and Katherine MacGregon.

The Junior Baseball league committee of Beaverhead post announces A teams Moose, Firemen, Puppies and more with players named. The schedule runs May 7 to May 31 including Moose vs Firemen Puppies vs Elks and two high two low games. Records broken for Beaverhead graduates promise 74 diplomas
Beaverhead county high school expects 74 seniors to receive diplomas at the May 23 commencement, the largest class in the school’s history. The program includes an oration by James McCulley, a Salutatory by Dorothy Spegar, diplomas presented by J. H. Gilbert, and musical selections by the orchestra. The senior class lists 80 plus members including Dorothy Spegar, Harold Wheat, James McCulley, and Jean Gilbert among others.

Word reached Dition that the Pendleton ranch houses at Big Hole Basin were totally destroyed by a Tuesday night fire. Further details were not learned.

Former Dillon Resident Roscoe Taylor Dies in Butte
Roscoe Taylor son of Mrs Louise Taylor and native of Bannack died Wednesday in Butte after a lingering illness. He lived in Dillon for many years and the body will be brought to Dillon for burial with a later funeral notice. He is survived by his wife and son aged 11, his mother, and brothers Levant T and Dr Carl B Taylor of Dillon.

Birch Creek CCC Camp Established
With about 133 men arriving Friday the Birch Creek CCC camp hosts a full company of 200 markers from Fort Missoula. Major spring projects include reconstructing 14 miles of road from the forest boundary to the head of Birch Creek and extending toward Pear Lake, plus a 3 mile Sheep creek to French creek link. Additional plans cover roads to Bond reservoir Deerheart lake Rattlesnake road Willow Creek and improvements to camp grounds and a telephone line to Algerta. Winter work targets road upgrades to Birch Creek mouth and Badger Pass district.
