Special Court of Honor Held Here Saturday

Eight local Boy Scouts advanced in rank at the training school auditorium with Judge L L Callaway of Great Falls delivering tributes. Dillon leaders A I Cashmore Earl Fairbanks and Scoutmaster George Farrell praised the group. Melbourne Jackson, James Kelly and others were named Star Scouts Life Scouts and Eagle Scouts amid ceremonies led by Judge H G Rodgers and Lt Governor F A Hazelbaker.

Mining benefits from geological survey prospect

Beaverhead county miners gain from a forthcoming state geological survey of mineral possibilities. The Montana Bureau of Mines will begin work after July, using the legislature's appropriation. The project aims to provide a starting point for mineral development, akin to civil survey standards guiding homestead claims.

Banquet for University Women Held Next Monday

A banquet will be held at the guild hall Monday evening May 11 at 7 o'clock by the American Association of University Women. All members and eligible new members are invited. Mrs. M. A. Brannon, Pacific Northwest director, will speak. Musical numbers by Miss Booth and Miss Robinson. Mrs. Golden leads group singing. Mrs. Ernest Luébben presides.

Stockmen Meet Here Saturday Annual Beaverhead Meeting

The Beaverhead Stockgrowers Association held its annual meeting in the county building with ranchers from across the county. J. E. Shaw of Wisdom was reelected president as officers were reelected, Ross Nay of Polaris remained vice president, W. C. Orr of Dillon as treasurer, and Fred Rife as secretary. Alumni Association Plans Dance for Graduates

Beaverhead County High School alumni group met at city hall Friday to plan an annual entertainment for the graduating class. They decided on a dance at Dillmont Park but did not set a date pending commencement schedules.

Justice Court Busy Session Names Suspects and Fines

Justice court held a busy session Monday with George Mohr charged for carrying a concealed weapon. He pleaded not guilty and was fined 50 dollars or 25 days in jail before Judge Phillips. Later that afternoon Judge George Opp fined Charles Contway and Peter Kazinsky 10 dollars each on a disturbance charge.

Scholarship Contests Open D Track Meet in Dillon

Rural students from Wise River Medicine Lodge Birch Creek Gosman Argenta Lima Dell Nelson Armstead Reichle gather for Beaverhead County High School events. Education tests start at 1 pm with language reading and declamation. weekend contests include writing spelling supervised by Miss Metlen and Miss Kirkpatrick. Athletic events at the field Saturday feature BCHS stars with prizes displayed at local stores and awards to follow in the gym.

Beaverhead Favors Debenture Measure Across County

A strong countywide result backed the highway debenture plan for Montana's four year road program costing 23 million dollars. Beaverhead reported only Nicholia dissenting while Polaris Coolidge and Lakeview voted 100 percent for. Dillon precincts gave a 407 vote majority. Official canvass completed by commissioners and sent to Helena.

Sheriff to Prosecute Delinquent Motorists

County commissioners order Sheriff W C Orr to arrest and prosecute any car owner whose vehicle lacks 1931 license plates on both ends. Past offenders will be investigated. A gopher extermination district is created for the district south of Dillon between Lovell Livestock ranch and Vic Carrigan with Ab Robinson in charge. The board later inspected progress on the new sewer system at the county poor farm.

Edward L. Hart Claimed in Tucson Obituary

Edward L. Hart, son of Mr and Mrs Mortimer Hart former Dillon residents, died in Tucson Arizona on Friday April 24. His funeral was held from a Christian Science church in Los Angeles Tuesday. Born in Bannack December 24 1901 he lived in Dillon until age five then moved to Weiser Idaho and later Los Angeles. He is survived by his wife Mrs Leda Hart his sister Mrs I W Barrow his grandmother Mrs Anna Hart and other relatives in California including his uncle Charles J Nelson and four cousins in Dillon.

Spring concert by Dillon Choral Club thrills community

The Dillon Choral Club presented a Thursday spring concert at the training school auditorium directed by Mrs. W. G. Gilbert with Miss Helen Catherine Ballard assisting. The varied program featured solos duets a quartet and ensemble singing from Part I to Part III including works by Clough Leighter Nevin Liszt and Spross among others.

Future Farmers Win Honors at Bozeman

Bernard Williams and his Future Farmer class returned from Bozeman where they attended the organization contest. Joe Hoe won first in judging Hampshire and Rambouillet sheep. James Morrison reached the finals in speaking. Dillon chapter placed second in state chapter contest. Inner Nelson and Gus Rody earned State former degrees. Stock judging team Joe Roe Carl Hanson and Alvin Bay finished 19th of 31. Dan Pendergast state secretary attended.

Accident Fatal to War Veteran J D Kimsey

J Daniel Kimsey 37 a Dillon resident and World War I veteran died after an auto crash on the highway north of Dillon. Taken to Barrett hospital with a broken neck the coroner ruled death occurred from the accident caused by glare from an approaching car. He served in France was gassed and wounded.
