Jury exonerates Tom Bird in Montana shooting case
The coroner’s jury absolved Thom as J Bird 76 of Madison county of homicide after a Friday shooting at the Hardisty ranch near Twin Bridges. Fred St Louis a St Louis resident died from a gunshot near the heart after being brought to Dillon in a dying condition. St Louis and Bird reportedly quarreled over an irrigation ditch with self defense claimed by Bird and a prior altercation two or three days earlier. St Louis’s body was buried in Twin Bridges after services. Bird surrendered at Virginia City and was released following the coroner’s finding of self defense.

Man steals four suits at J C Penney and flees
Friday at noon an unknown man snatched four suits from two racks at J C Penney. Manager J C Jeppson pursued but the thief vanished after slipping under a signboard near the Examiner office. Police searched transient havens but found no trace as the suits were recovered after being dropped in a flight area.

Former Dillon Resident C F Jensen Passes Away
C F Jensen a longtime Dillon resident and former shoe repair shop operator died last Thursday in Butte after a lingering illness. His daughter Mrs Walter V Grimes and son Joseph Jensen left for Butte the same day, joined by Mr Grimes on Sunday for the funeral. He was 78, born in Norway, came to the United States 52 years ago, survived by his wife and five children including Marie Evans Mrs D M Dyer of Butte Martin C Jensen of Whitehall Joseph C Jensen and Mrs Grimes of Dillon.

Grade School Track Meet Draws Rural Beaverhead Pupils
Beaverhead county rural students are set to travel to the city for the annual grade school track meet and scholastic contests under Beaverhead county high school guidance.
