In observance of the Girl Scout movement founding on March 12 Juliette Low Dillon scouts join in the anniversary week March 12 to 18. A display of handcraft by Girl Scouts and Brownies is in Vaughn Ragsdale store window and most work was done at the girls recreation school. A six weeks recreation camp attracted over 100 girls last summer and a paid supervisor is planned. The publicity committee handles Dillon observance with Mrs. John Wolf Mrs D C Devaney and Miss Mary Castles.

Five students received credentials at Montana State Normal college winter quarter exercises held in the college auditorium during the weekly assembly. Three bachelor of education degrees went to Norman Mark DeBoer Thomas L Meehan and Ronald Rew MacDonald and two year diplomas to Grace Hammond Elmer John Tuomi Thomas Meehan and Donald Rew MacDonald. The program featured the Little Symphony Orchestra and performances from Pirates of Penzance and Maritana. The Montana college will close for spring recess March 16 with registration for the spring quarter starting March 20.

Heavy Snow Welcomed by Ranchers in Beaverhead Valley
Beaverhead valley ranchers welcomed a heavy snow storm on Monday bringing over four inches in town and a foot and a half in the Big Hole region. Precipitation reached .44 inch at Normal College with 43 degree high and 28 degree low. Travel slowed as roads were treacherous and services ran behind. skiers praised the fall for weeks of good conditions.

Two Men Burned At Madison Plant
Ott Vandegrift Montana Power Co. manager reports two men were seriously burned at the Meidleon plant when a live 4800 volt line touched a worker named Si McAllister who shouted and jumped the current to his nearby fellow workman Hiney Rowe while both were servicing a line that serves Dillon and nearby cities. The incident interrupted power service in Dillon last week.

Longtime Dillon Resident Jack Barrett Dies After Illness
Jack Barrett a 72 year old Dillon area resident died after a long illness following a heart attack during a visit with his daughter Mrs W D Ross last Sunday. Funeral services were held at the Brundage chapel with Dillon Lodge No 1554 B P O E officiating and burial planned in Glendale California. Barrett born in 1867 at Wathena Kansas came to Dillon in 1873 and lived in Beaverhead county most of his life working as a rancher and county official. He is survived by two stepdaughters two stepsons and several cousins nieces and nephews in multiple states.
