A large audience enjoyed the Girl Scouts sponsored program at the training school auditorium. The play How the Story Grew featured Mrs. Byron Nay and others with Miss Eastman directing. Musical numbers were given by Dorothy David and the 24 piece D W S orchestra.

Beavers, though eliminated in the Helena district semifinals, advanced to the round after beating Lima 27 23 and Boulder 40 23. Three players earned all district honors Brundage Kerr and Kent while coach Breeden received praise for building a fast, smooth lineup despite a light roster. Former Dillon Resident Mrs Rivers Dies in Clinton Mo
Word reached last Saturday that Mrs. John R. Rivers died at her Clinton Missouri home after a brief illness. She was 78, a former Dillon resident who spent about two years here on separate occasions. Funeral was held in Clinton. She is survived by nine children and 30 grandchildren. her husband died about three years ago.

Farmers Enjoy Ag Club Party at High School Gym
The annual farmers party hosted by the school Ag club Friday night drew about three hundred residents from rural areas. Speakers included Principal Wahl Bernard Williams W J Bierum and Major Dansie while the girls sextette and duets by Miss Virginian Randolph Leslie Hjort Argyle Stephens provided music. Dan Pendergast chaired the event and an enjoyable dance followed with refreshments served by the domestic science girls.

John Wenger longtime Big Hole basin resident and winter visitor to Long Beach California died Monday in California. He had recently lived in Anaconda and his funeral will be held there.

James E. Phillips Beaverhead veteran huntsman returned from an extended California visit to find Montana snow calling him home. He reports improved health and fitness after his trip and was re appointed county coroner by the board upon his return, succeeding L. P. Phillips who acted during his absence. He stayed with his son Irving in Los Angeles and overstayed his leave by sixty days before resuming duties.

T K E Gilbert and J C Jeppson, delegates to the Mining district convention of the American Legion, report Dillon as the next meeting place for district veterans. The convention will be held in May with Beaverhead Post hosting visiting delegates and extending Dillon hospitality. Commander D W Paddock attended, noting the event was interesting and enjoyable. Hand Amputation After Hay Cutter Injury At Willard Ranch
George Hildreth a popular young former athlete on a dairy farm north of town suffered a severe hand injury when his fingers were caught in a hay cutter. He pulled free, drove to the ranch house, and was taken to town for treatment. Doctors amputated the little finger and the first finger at the second joint. the thumb remained intact. He showed notable courage during surgery and is reported stable.
