At a Tuesday luncheon in the Sugar Bowl cafe the Dillon citizen’s committee of the Boy Scouts adopted an area council plan. A. Hazel baker praised scouting as a steady good, citing Hoover’s remark about one million scouts and raw material for ten million more. Committees were named for finance publicity and executive duties with a $800 yearly troop quota and two new troops to be sponsored by St James and St Rose churches.

Beaverhead post of the American Legion sponsored memorial services for William Howard Taft at noon Tuesday at the depot lawn. T. E. Gilbert presided with a color guard and high school band. Lieutenant Governor Hazelbaker delivered a lengthy eulogy praising Taft as a great American public servant.

Gilbert C. Carter well known ranchman of the Axe canyon area was found dead Tuesday afternoon with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Coroner James Phillips Undersheriff Carl Hartwig said evidence indicates suicide. Carter had lived in the region about 25 years and had recently appeared despondent due to ill health and hardship. He was a Mason and is survived by his mother and several brothers and sisters. D V Erwin made a business trip to Butte.

Street Lighting District Petition Seeks Urban Improvement
A Dillon city petition signed by almost all property owners requests a new lighting district between the business area and Normal College. Infant daughter of Beebe family dies after eight days
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Beebe with Rev. J. D. Smith of the Methodist church officiating.
