A car driven by Mrs. G T Paul overturned near a snowy highway south of Melrose trapping three women, Mrs. Paul, Mrs. John Collins, and Mrs. H G Rodgers. They were rescued by James Weitz and treated by Dr. Stephan before reaching Barrett hospital. The injured, though shaken, are recovering at home.

Old-time Dillon resident Rev. R O Mintzer died recently in Spokane at age 80. He came to Virginia City during the gold rush era and after Dillon was founded spent years there and later in Salmon.

Former Dillon Girl To Wed in Honolulu
Helen Poindexter daughter of Governor select Joseph B Poindexter will become official hostess at Washington Place and is engaged to H H Phillips a Honolulu contractor. Phillips from Melbourne Australia has lived in Hawaii two years and built his dream home there. The wedding date is undecided. Poindexter says the hostess duties are exacting as the president’s representative and she is thrilled yet cautious about the responsibilities.

Two Day Winter Weather Records Reported
Weather records show a rare sub zero reading in the community with two below once last Sunday and a year long stretch without temperatures below zero. Historical data note February 14, 1938 when readings dropped to six below as a 40 below record followed. The town enjoys sunny days while eastern blizzards rage as mild winter continues.
Lima registration list shows increase for city election
Registration lists were mailed to the Lima town clerk for the April 2 city election. The Lima list totals 273 electors, the largest in years, up 40 voters from the previous period. The Dillon election list rises about 10 and will be posted next Saturday.

Trio arraigned on liquor charges in local court
Pleading guilty before Judge George Friday morning were Harry Parker fined 25 dollars for illegal possession of intoxicants. Nellie Powell pleaded guilty and was released on 500 dollar bond awaiting district court sentence while E. E. Smith pleaded not guilty and was held on 500 dollar bond for district court arraignment.

Former Dillon Resident Summoned in Veterans of Indian Wars Toll
George Wall died in Boise Idaho on February 17 leaving a vacancy in the Veterans of Indian Wars. He served five years in Company C First Cavalry after enlisting at 19 in Allegheny Pennsylvania. He lived in Dillon with his family in the early eighties. Surviving are two sons George Omaha and Walter Ogden, two daughters Mrs James Maher Ogden and Alice New York City, a son J B Wall was killed in Amiens France in 1918., and several nieces and nephews in Pittsburgh Grant Armstead and Dillon.

Not Guilty Plea In Assault Case Filed In Judge Stahl Court
Alice Barnes and Louise Rhoades entered not guilty pleas to a change of first degree assault in Judge Stahl’s court. Bonds were set at $3,000 each after they furnished them. Frank Tripplet, ranch hand, alleged beaten with a blunt weapon in a lodging house room following a dispute at the Barnes rooming house. Tripplet was intoxicated, according to friends. The two women were arraigned on a nuisance charge in justice court and released on $100 bonds each.

Bigamist Sentenced to Year in Penitentiary
Clark Conklin itinerant photographer pleaded guilty to bigamy in district court before Judge Lyman H Bennett. He married Wanda Parker in Butte on Feb 14 and Kristine Conklin last December, knowing Parker was under 18. Bennett imposed one year in Deer Lodge State Penitentiary and directed the couple to settle the matter with her Idaho family. Other cases heard included KE Smith seeking to retract a guilty liquor charge plea and Nellie Powell requesting an attorney with arraignment postponed to next Monday.
