Prominent Dillon Teacher Alice Olmsted Dies

Mrs. Alice Chambers Olmsted longtime Dillon training school kindergarten teacher died Sunday in Missoula after seeking medical care. She taught in Dillon nine years and earlier held a two year diploma and a B A from the Normal College. Survived by mother Elizabeth Chambers Malta sisters Gertrude Rathbone Malta and J W Stockman Red Cloud Nebr son Elaise Dillon and a brother George A Chambers Malta Funeral held at St James Episcopal with Eastern Star rites at Mountain View cemetery.

Beaverhead Woolgrowers Urged to Enter State Show

Beaverhead county woolgrowers, noted for fine fleeces, are urged by Extension Agent Bernard Williams to save their best fleece for the state wool show. Letters request woolgrowers to reserve top fleeces rather than market them now as Beaverhead farms have repeatedly placed at the annual event. The show, held with the state woolgrowers convention in January, includes a new range-sheep classification this year.

Dillon Sluggers Struggle in Narrow Loss at Anaconda

Dillon lost 2-0 to Anaconda as Robinson left with a shoulder injury after a one‑hit game for Dillon. Vandegrift relieved for the lone hit, while Walker pitched the no‑hit debut for Anaconda. A dust storm halted a Dillon Missoula game and Sunday saw Missoula and Dillon combine for 27 hits in a 16‑4 slugfest led by Lee, Roesti, and McGinley. Dillon faces Butte Freebourn next.

John W. Carr and Dougan Leubben of Dillon join Scouts from Anaconda, Deer Lodge, and Butte aboard the Milwaukee train to Washington D C for the National Boy Scout Jamboree from June 30 to July 9. J L Mayland of Great Falls announces a new law office in the Medlen block after a year in Great Falls. He is a Helena transplant, former state parks procurement officer, a 1933 University of Montana law graduate, and holds a journalism degree. Arrest Made for Theft of Horse in Dell Foothills

Ed. Hadley was arrested Friday afternoon west of Dell by Sheriff Paul Temple on grand larceny charges for stealing a horse and two saddles. The horse, saddle, and cache found near the Brazier and Lovell ranches were identified by owners. Officers traced the missing horse to Melrose and suspect Hadley was moving toward Idaho.

Smouldering mattress fire quickly stopped by fire dept

A mattress fire in the Ann rooms was promptly extinguished by the fire department on Thursday. No injuries or further details were provided.

Early Explorations in Montana Highlight Rotary Talk

Dr R E Albright of the State Normal College spoke to Rotary at the Andrus hotel on Montana history as a follow up to his talk on early Montana Indians. He traced Lewis and Clark's expedition from 1742 43 through Beaverhead county and noted the route via the Missouri to Great Falls the portage at 18 miles and Sacajawea. Dean Line Addresses Local Merchants Meeting

Dean Robert C. Line told merchants at the training school auditorium that distribution needs a higher level and that towns face inroads from larger cities. He urged superior sales service and cited two reels on selling. He outlined the fair trade practice act and said the Associated Merchants of Montana will support enforcement at the state meeting in Butte on July 13.
