Elms Hold Flag Day Ceremonies On Courthouse Lawn

Attorney Theo F McFadden delivered a flag day oration during Elms Flag Day exercises on the county courthouse lawn Monday evening. The program opened with a parade by Boy Scouts color guard lodge members and Elks drum and bugle corps. Exalted Ruler L Ott Gordon led introductory exercises with Dillon Boy Scouts carrying banners and explaining flag history.

Summer Session Opens at State Normal College

The Montana State Normal college opens its regular summer session with 205 registrations on Tuesday. Visiting faculty include James Mann of Winnetka Illinois who will teach literature and journalism and replace Genevieve Albertson, and Bert B Hansen of Bozeman who will teach speech and dramatics. The program covers art industrial arts music and voice with local staff assisting.

Jubilant ranchers and farmers walked Dillon streets as a steady rain eased drought concerns. Over an inch fell Friday boosting June’s total to nearly two inches per records from the State Normal College.

Lima Couple Weds in Parsonage Ceremony

A young Lima couple William Mordan and Grace Lothie were united in marriage Monday noon by Rev A W Nelson at the parsonage. Witnesses were John Swoboda and Margaret Williams. They departed for a weeklong trip to Yellowstone park and Mr Mordan will work at Lima in the Swoboda meat market.

Dillon Bride and Carl Anderson Wed in Presbyterian Ceremony

Miss Lulu Belle Gilman daughter of L M Gilman wed Carl Anderson in a Saturday evening ceremony at the Presbyterian manse officiated by Rev. Harvey Schmidt. Attendants were Mrs Ott Vandegrift and Oscar Anderson. Mrs Anderson is a Dillon girl graduate of the local high school and St James hospital in Butte. Anderson works at the Union Electric company. A wedding supper followed at the Vandegrift home.

Bride Mabel Else Weds Kenneth Murray in Wisdom

Mabel Else daughter of Weldon Else of Wisdom married Kenneth Murray of Chateau Montana yesterday afternoon at the Baptist manse officiated by Rev. Willis J. Loar. Relative and friends attended. Anna Fay Else sister of the bride and Burt Bacon of Wisdom served as witnesses. The couple will reside in Chateau where the groom is employed.

Esteemed Matron Magdeline Lyon Dies at 79

Mrs Magdeline Lyon 79 died Sunday afternoon at the family home. Born in Copenhagen she came to the U S at twelve. Wife of the late Joe Lyon she leaves sons Roy Bill Fred G Lyon of Dillon a daughter Mrs V E Gustafson of Omaha and another daughter in law Mrs Fred G Lyon and five grandchildren. Burial from the Fred Lyon home 480 Kentucky avenue. She was a Mormon and greatly mourned.
