Three inmates escaped Beaverhead county jail Sunday night through a roof vent opening aided by bent bars and a gap to the living quarters. Claude Vance, A A Mangus, and Roy Ottie are linked to a post office robbery and car theft cases, with Vance and Mangus previously recaptured after a May escape. L. Sheftel remained in custody after a Texas return, and a separate sentencing occurred for another inmate.

In ideal weather at the fair grounds on Sunday morning Butte shooter Joe Latimer won the trapshoot by breaking 99 of 100 targets. Ted Renfro and W E Talent tied for second with 98s. Other high scores included Pete Weste gaard 97 Apgar 96 Mrs Latimer 78 Roy Forrester 72 of 75. Cliff Stump from Helena also excelled with 121 of 125. A Dillon club delegation plans to enter the state shoot next month. Latimer kept the last blue rock as a souvenir noting it was his first freak of luck in his career.

Fires Rival Forest Fire Flares In Region One
Officials report seven forest fires in northern Idaho and Montana during the first ten days of June. Woman injured in peculiar accident near Dubois ranch
Mrs. Walter Crist, wife of a local typewriter salesman, suffered cuts to face and arms when their car was hit by a miniature tornado on the highway north of the Dubois ranch Saturday afternoon. The windshield shattered and debris struck her. she was taken to Barrett hospital. The storm caused minor damage in the northern part of town.
