County Fair Dates Revised and Exhibits Expanded
At the county fair board meeting last Sunday the dates were moved to October 3, 4, and 6 to avoid conflicts with the state fair in Helena. The flower show moves to an earlier date at the First National bank wool warehouse. Livestock and poultry premiums rise substantially with some prizes more than doubling. The livestock pavilion is nearing completion to provide ample display space. D B Thurber oversees all agricultural exhibits and aims for a premier Beaverhead county display.

Registration Drops for July 1928 Primaries in Dillon

Sprinkler Truck Crashes Through Bridge on South Atlantic
A city sprinkler truck in constant use this spring drove through a South Atlantic street bridge last Saturday afternoon. The rear wheels broke the flooring, and the vehicle had to be extricated with difficulty. The old flooring will be replaced with new structure.

Longtime Beaverhead resident Rife dies at 83
Abram S. Rife, a prominent Dillon rancher, businessman and former mayor, died last Friday at Barrett hospital after a brief illness at age 83. Born in Ontario on December 16, 1845, he moved to Dillon in 1880 with the Utah and Northern railroad and helped shape the valley's development. He is survived by two sons, a daughter, a brother, two sisters, and four grandsons. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Presbyterian church with burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Emma Gleed wife of the late George Gleed a long time Lima Beaverhead rancher died at her home after a paralytic stroke suffered ten days earlier. She was 63, survived by two sons Edward and Will, three daughters Mrs Roy Barbour Mrs E T Franks and Mrs Charles Reiber. Funeral held Wednesday at Lima with Idaho Falls clergyman officiating and burial in the cemetery.

Fire at Allentown Destroys Powder Kilns
Allentown Pennsylvania June 21 fire continued toward three Trojan Powder company kilns after seven kilns exploded earlier. The first blast destroyed four kilns and no one was in the building at that time as flames spread.

Federal raiders raid Dillon for illicit "artificial enthusiasm"

Patrick Carney longtime Montana pioneer and president of the Society of Montana Pioneers died at his ranch near Waterloo after months of illness. Born in Ireland he came to the U S as a youth and helped settle Madison county ranching potatoes. Survived by three sons and four daughters including John deputy state game warden and residents of Waterloo. Carney was oldest Mason in Madison county and served in Montana’s early legislative sessions.

Hazel Staudaher, former Dillon resident, died Sunday at her Butte home. She worked at the Andrus cigar stand here years ago when run by her husband. Survived by husband Fred, son Fred Jr., her parents Mr. and Mrs. David Michelson of Butte, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral was held Wednesday at St. Ann's church in Butte.
