Rachel Lenore Smith of Dillon Montana received Vassar College’s highest commencement honors during the 1928 graduation exercises in Poughkeepsie New York. She was the sole Montana student this year, majoring in mathematics and music and taking active roles in the program and daily chain. Her mother Mrs Pearl S Smith, visiting the east, accompanies her as they plan to return home soon.

Altered appearance spotted by Hartwig
Undersheriff Carl Hartwig went to Butte and brought back Glen Repass wanted for jumping a hotel bill at the Metlen and taking clothes not his. Repass shaved his moustache and wore a new suit to escape, but Dillon officers identified him at the Winter Garden and arrested him. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail.

The granite boulder monument was donated by the Oregon Short Line and bears a bronze tablet from the Anaconda Copper Mining Co. Last Saturday afternoon Wisdom hosted a large gathering of Masons from western Montana and other interested parties for the cornerstone laying of the new Masonic building. Grand Master Marshall of Missoula directed the ceremonies with Wisdom Masons including C. N. Miller J. E. Shaw Marshall Ramsey James I. Schofield and G. W. Reese assisting. Officers of the grand lodge of Montana and Eastern Star and Wisdom and Eastern Star lodges were placed in the stone along with copies of the Wisdom News and other articles. The building is expected to be completed this summer.
