District Legion Convention hailed as most successful in Dillon
The Dillon district American Legion convention drew over 100 delegates from Butte Anaconda Helena Deer Lodge Philipsburg Twin Bridges Sheridan and other posts. Russell Hart Helena was elected district commander with W L Chapman Butte as vice commander and W J Webb Anaconda as adjutant and finance officer. The assembled veterans endorsed Al Livingston Butte for state commander and named Webb as national convention delegate. A committee drafted telegrams urging support for veterans legislation and McNider as Canada consul general. It also noted 40 junior baseball teams formed in the mining district and strong Boy Scout activity in Butte and Dillon.

Death Claims Fred P Hoyrup at 38 in Barrett Hospital
Fred P Hoyrup aged 38 died early Saturday at Barrett hospital from tuberculosis after a two week illness. A World War transport division veteran, he lived in the county about 20 years, worked as a foreman at Cook Sheep, and is survived by his widow, two sons Dan and Jack, three sisters, two brothers, and his mother. Funeral services were held Monday at St James Episcopal church with American Legion Beav erhead post duties. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery.

Harold Brown 18 died of pneumonia Friday at Murray hospital in Butte after two weeks illness.
