At the area executive board meeting held in this city Tuesday evening with attendees from Butte Anaconda Deer Lodge and Dillon A L Krause field executive praised the local Scout troops three months gains Dillon now has 3 troops 82 members ranking second The city also lists 12 second class 4 first class 49 merit badge 6 star 2 life and 3 eagle scouts advanced since March 10 The event followed a dinner at the Hanson cafe with officials from multiple towns and reports on summer camp housing and new facilities plans include a joint meeting with Wisdom Lima and Dillon troops at Bannack for a weekend camp and Sunday services led by Rev F X Lechner.

The second installment of 1930 taxes totaled 131733.66 with only 8705.58 left delinquent after last week. Dillon city collections reached 5484.82 leaving 107.20 delinquent. County state and other trust collections were included. most came in late May as the treasurer’s office stayed busy.

Esteemed Dillon Woman Fatally Struck on Twin Bridges
Mrs. Marie Christensen, wife of rancher Jens H. Christensen, was killed when struck by a car driven by Edgar Williams on Twin Bridges road Sunday night. The Christensen party had stalled at a washed culvert. Williams stated he was blinded by lights and could not see people in the roadway. Coroner James E. Phillips led a inquest confirming death caused by the automobile mishap between 9:30 and 10 p.m. on June 7, 1931. The Christensen family and the community mourn the loss while arrangements for the funeral were announced.

Bids Open for New Mail Contract in Montana
Postmaster J. C. Fuller announces bids open for a new mail contract replacing the current one. The plan covers hauling first class mail newspapers and special handling by motor vehicles with a daily 4 am depart from Butte and 6 am arrival in Dillon. Bids close in June. contract runs July 1, 1931 to June 30, 1934, with a $36,000 bond. Old contract paid $1,860 yearly. Local office holds commemorative two cent Red Cross stamps.

Dillon Residents Attend Salmon Bake and Canoe Race
A large Dillon turnout traveled to Salmon for the annual salmon bake and related events hosted by the Sportsmen's club. Louis Schmittroth of Dillon and Morris Hancock of Salmon won the six mile canoe race in 43 minutes, with Roy Forrester finishing third in just over 45 minutes. Roy Yorrester Jr won the boys fly casting event and his father placed second in the men's division.

Dillon Elks Attend Picnic at Gregson
About 15 members of the Elk's drum corps traveled to Anaconda last Sunday and joined the Anaconda lodge for a brief parade before the Gregson picnic. They later returned to Butte to see a fleet of 66 army planes and spent the afternoon at Gregson. The picnic drew a large crowd. This Saturday the Dillon, Butte, and Anaconda drum corps will join Dillon Elks for a dance at Dilmont Park.

Piano Instructor Ralph McFadden Returns Home
Ralph McFadden arrived home on Wednesday after months of piano study in New York. Mrs. McFadden visits Great Falls for several days. They traveled by motor visiting major eastern cities.
