I. B. Mining Company names new officers in Bannack

The I. B. Mining company of Bannack announces personnel changes. I. H. Hancock becomes General Superintendent of mines and mill, replacing C. W. Stallings and Wm. H. Gaines. The mill has seen repeated layoffs to cut costs on low grade ore. Harold Kk. Boysen is consulting engineer for the mines and mill. Salt Lake City and Butte engineers joined the consulting staff bringing extensive mining experience.

Memorial Day Observance by Dillon Veterans

Veterans of three wars joined the Memorial day program sponsored by Heavyhead Post of the American Legion. A parade led by Legion color guards and the Moose Lodge drum corps moved through Dillon to the depot lawn. Civil and Spanish American War veterans, Legion members, auxiliary, D A R members, and Scouts participated. Prof. R. E. Albright delivered the address at the depot with choral singing. Rev. Shannon gave invocation and benediction. Cemetery rites followed with transport provided for all attendees.

Wisdom Hosts American Legion Auxiliary Unit Initiation

Montana State Fair Premium Lists Available

Premium lists for the twenty ninth annual Montana state fair and the Lewis and Clark county fair running August 17 to 22 in Helena have been brought to Dillon. They detail livestock dairy and industrial prize categories and entry blanks. George Dart secretary of the Beaverhead county fair board can provide copies. The fair promises to be one of the greatest ever held in Montana.

County Sets Special Meeting on Grand Stand Contract

At a joint meeting county commissioners and fair board members agreed to hold a special session Monday June 15 to award the contract for a new grand stand and exhibition hall at the fair grounds. The modern elevated stand seats over 1,000, includes concessions and pari-mutuel booths, and will be ready by September.

Salesman Loses Cash After Helping Stalled Car

Idaho salesman H F Saundner lost 88 dollars after helping two motorists stall at a flat tire near the Cornell ranch. The pair, in a Pontiac, ended the encounter with a gun before driving off. Police traced the suspects, who had been ordered out of town earlier, as they fled toward Idaho.

Popular Couple Weds In Local Methodist Ceremony

The Rev J D Smith officiated Thursday evening at the marriage of Robert Bruce Green and Olive Trolinger a well known local pair. Olive is daughter of Mr and Mrs W E Trolinger now ranching in Madison while Green is son of Mrs J L Willard and ranches north of the city. Friends celebrated with a town ride in an old buggy after the ceremony.

Funeral services for Jay B. Holtz held Sunday

Funeral services were conducted for the late Jay B. Holtz who died of exposure in the Be Hole Basin. The services were held Sunday with attendees paying their respects to the deceased.

Graduation Events Highlight College Week Activities

The commencement week program opens with a Saturday reception for graduates and friends, a Sunday Baccalaureate with an address by President Davis, and a Monday senior dinner. The Chinook annual of Montana State Normal College distributed this week features a 16 page special scenic section. Intercity Golf Tournament at Butts Country Club

The summer schedule lists an intercity golf tournament at the Butts Country Club on Sunday June 21. Golfers from Anaconda, Deer Lodge, and Dillon are invited to compete and visiting players will be hosted by the Butte club with a dipmr served late in the afternoon.

Commercial Service Contest Extended to June 10

The Commercial Service association extends the slogan and design contest to June 10 due to many contestants missing the June 1 deadline. A $10 prize is offered for a brief sentence stressing the value of paying bills promptly, to be used in a design or as a slogan. Herder Tom Hoke Found Dead at Medicine Lodge Camp

Tom Hoke a 60 year old herder for Rife Ranch in the Medicine Lodge section was found dead in his camp wagon after about three days. Local he in Beaverhead County since moving from Illinois fifteen years ago. He wintered in Dillon where friends mourn his loss. Burial was in Mountain View cemetery with services by Rev Fr X Lechner of St Rose church. No relatives were located.

Legion Post Hosts Wisdom Veterans Banquet at Wisdom

Veterans of the World War from Beaverhead county attended the Wisdom post banquet at a local hotel last Thursday evening. Helena adjutant Herbert Kibler spoke on national Legion work while I I Gilbert and J C Fuller were elected delegates to the Miles City state convention. Sir Alfred Schlegel, a four year trench veteran with the German army, gave a feature talk.

Well Known Dillon Man Passes Sunday

W Z Colbert a longtime Dillon resident died Sunday at a sheep camp on the Ames ranch near Bannack from Brights disease and complications. He had been ill the day before and had been considered not seriously sick. A native of the Centennial valley he lived most of his life in the region returning from Wyoming earlier in spring and worked as a herder for Matt Anderson. Survived by his Dillon wife his Wyoming mother and Colorado-based father. Funeral held Wednesday at Brundage chapel with Rev J D Smith of Grace Methodist Church officiating and burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Muddy roads slow dairy truck from Salmon to Dillon

The Mutual Cream company truck hauling 6000 pounds of milk and cream from Salmon Idaho reached Dillon Tuesday at 11 AM after a night of heavy rain. Driver Bert Ford, from Dillon, left Salmon Monday afternoon and faced soft spots, using sage brush and debris to navigate the washed roads. On return he carried about 3000 pounds.
