Eastern boys in Wise River camp
The Roosevelt volunteer conservation corps opened its Wise River camp six miles from Elkhorn Springs with 40 men from New York City and local areas. An additional 160 men from Newark, New Jersey joined this week to total 200 for Beaverhead camp. Army officers run the camp and plan a road from Elkhorn mine to Elkhorn springs plus other forestry tasks as more than 1,000 Atlantic coast youths prepare to arrive.

Volunteer Wardens Rejoin Forest Protection Effort
About 2000 Montana volunteers will be appointed this summer to patrol forests against carelessness and arson. Supervisor A A Simpson says wardens act with power to arrest travelers and aid fire prevention, supplementing paid forest protection. Appointments countersigned by State Forester Rutledge Parker are being sent out this week.

Flag Day Rites by Dillon Elks Planned for June 14
Dillon lodge of Elks will hold their annual flag day ceremony on Wednesday June 14 at 7 15 PM on the depot lawn. Earl Wheat secretary notes a program including The Star Spangled Banner Columbia the Gem of the Ocean Auld Lang Syne and America with music by the Elks orchestra and chorus. Past Exalted Ruler John T Orr will give the flag history and patriotic address. The public is invited to attend.

A wholesome revival of baseball interest in Dillon leads to a junior league under Beaverhead post of the American Legion. Three teams have started practice and a first game saw the Rotary club team beat the Elks 11 to 7 at the fair grounds with several adult fans watching.

Farmers Picnic At Dillmont Park Draws Rural Visitors
Beaverhead and Madison county residents are invited to a Farmers Union picnic at Dillmont park on June 11. A. G. Egley of the Farmers Union Livestock Exchange in St Paul will speak. Activities include a Dillon Glen baseball game, races, and other sports with free lunch served at noon under the trees.

Royal Neighbors Meet at Twin Bridges
Seventeen Royal Neighbors and ten Juveniles from Dillon attended the district convention in Twin Bridges on Saturday. Tick Talk: Rotary Program Features Dr Stephan on Ticks
Dr. W. H. Stephan spoke at the Dillon Rotary Monday on ticks and spotted fever. He explained symptoms appear about twelve days after bite and noted rabbit and dog ticks are dangerous but rarely bite humans unlike the woodtick. He urged vigilance in finding and removing ticks promptly and noted time attached affects venom injection.
