Death claims former Dillon resident in Anaconda

Mrs. Jock Wemett, formerly of Dillon, died last Saturday at her Anaconda home after a period of ill health. Funeral services were held Tuesday there, with several Dillon residents attending including Mrs. Jack Selway, Mrs. Chris Bay, Mrs. Jens Bay, Mrs. Peter Peterson, Elmer Peterson and Mrs. Soren P. Larson.

Death of Former Dillon Resident Mrs C Eudora Bordwine

Mrs C Eudora Bordwine, longtime former Dillon resident, died Saturday May 24 in Alhambra California after a paralysis stroke. Wife of Louis Bordwine she lived in Dillon until about 1915 before moving to California. Funeral service was held in Alhambra the next Monday with interment there.

Popular Dillon Girl June Bride

Miss Anastacia Boger wed Mr. Orin Babb at St. Rose Catholic church in Dillon in a 2 pm ceremony conducted by Rev. Father Clifford. Attendants were Miss Marie Boger and Eddie Boger. After a dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cantrell the couple left for a wedding trip and will reside in Wendell Idaho. The bride, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Boger, studied locally and at Normal College and has taught since graduation. the groom, a Wendell businessman, formerly ran an apiary here. Mrs. W. B. Hartwig hosted a pink and white breakfast shower for the bride.

Beaverhead's Big Industry Starts In Dillon

Shearing crews from several states converge on Dillon for the annual wool harvest of Beaverhead County. Ranches begin spring work and wool loads arrive at the First National warehouse as Rube Tritt returns to Nampa Idaho after a visit.

Federation Meets Here on Saturday

Beaverhead County Federation of Women's clubs holds its semi annual meeting in this city next Saturday with delegates from across the county. Lt Governor Frank A Hazel baker and Mrs J H Gilbert will speak. Mrs Warren Hughes presides. Armstead Neighborhood club hosts at St James guild hall with a noon luncheon for the public.

Commencement Week at State Normal College

The June class at State Normal College will be among the largest, numbering about 100. The schedule includes a baccalaureate service on Sunday at 11 a.m. by Rev. H. G. Klemme of Bozeman, a senior dinner at 1:15 p.m., a senior play Smilin Through on Tuesday at 8:15, a Tuesday reception, a Wednesday college sing and Pow Wow, and a Candle Light procession. The 33rd annual commencement is Thursday at 10 a.m. with Judge Lyman H. Bennett as speaker and diplomas by Chancellor M. A. Brannon.

Rotary Meeting Moves to Monday at Dillon Club

At the Dil lon Rotary Club noon meeting in the Andrus dining room members unanimously voted to shift the weekly luncheon from Wednesday to Monday, effective next week. W B Hartwig chaired. plans covered tax and bond measures and convention delegate selection. Dillon arrangements were made to assist arriving Normal students.

Dillon Nine Wins Two In Windy Weekend Route

Dillon's baseball team, a rising local power, defeated Salmon 9 to 5 and crushed Twin Bridges 24 to 1 on a windy diamond. Gordon and Burrell held Salmon to three hits while Bierrum, Smith, Kelly, C Vandegrift and B Gordon drove in runs. D Vandegrift pitched ten strikeouts against Twin Bridges as D Gordon led scoring with five runs and Kelly added four.

Funeral services for John O. Lee held at Brundage chapel

Funeral services for the late John O. Lee were held Saturday morning at the Brundage chapel with Rev J D Smith of the Methodist church officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery. A nephew Emil Thordalson arrived from Valley City North Dakota to attend.

Motorist Arrested For Reckless Driving In Saturday Incident

A young man claiming to be L. L. Moore was arrested by Chief Nelson on Saturday evening and brought back to Butte where he was arraigned on a reckless driving charge in connection with an injury to Matt Rowe. Bond set at $100.

Annual Meeting of Beaverhead Mining Men Next Saturday

The Beaverhead Mining Association schedules its annual meeting for Saturday evening at the district courthouse with talks by A V Corry of Butte and I B Haviland of Bannack. Officers will be announced, and a public session at 8 o'clock and a regular meeting at 7 will address industry interests.

United States Civil Service Examinations Offered

The U S Civil Service commission announces open competitive examinations for stenographers and junior typists with salaries from 1260 to 1620 dollars. Applications close June 28, 1980, for vacancies across Washington Oregon Idaho and Montana. Promotion may lead to higher pay. Bierrum Appointed Weed Commissioner for County

W. J. Bierrum was named chief of the county weed extermination squad by the county board at its regular meeting. A petition signed by 75 ranchers urged creation of the department, with a campaign to begin late this month as last year. Beaverhead Mining association committee asked road repair from Brenner to Sacajawea park for the August 47 picnic. board said the road would be put in good shape. A Parent Teachers committee discussed appointing a county health nurse to replace Mrs. Bertha Lamberton. no action taken.

Rebecca Connelley filed Thursday for public administrator on the Democratic ticket joining a field of candidates for Beaverhead offices. John S. Baker, veteran clerk and recorder, filed Wednesday for the county recorder on the Republican ballot. B W Emerick also filed for Democratic county assessor, with 18 years of service. George Metlen posted for county surveyor on the Democratic side. he has served multiple terms and faces no opposition.

Drug Addict Makes Threats at Gosman Drug Store

An unknown man with an iron pipe forced entry to Gosman drug store at noon on Tuesday, threatened proprietor George Gosman and demanded drugs. He threatened damage to merchandise if not supplied and fled after being pacified with morphine. police pursued but he escaped.

Mrs Issac Edinger a Montana Federation of Women's Clubs leader sails to Denver for the General Federation of Women's Clubs meeting June 4 to 12. Impressive Memorial Day Service By Beaverhead Legion

Beaverhead post of the American Legion and veterans of Civil and Spanish wars honored departed servicemen with simple services last Friday. A salute over graves followed taps and a gun salute.
