Montana Reports Liquor License Fees Collected

Helena says approximately 271000 dollars have been collected under the new retail liquor license law which began April 5. L M A Wass, administrator, notes 681 Montana saloons licensed under the act.

Beaverhead county high class of 1937 graduates

The Beaverhead county high school held its forty sixth annual commencement with 53 seniors receiving diplomas. Dr Curtis Wilson gave the address The Practical Value of an Ideal. Alumni cup went to Paul Simons Scholarships went to Patricia Gilbert Betty Jo Jeppson Ruth Helen Albright and Paul Simons. The event included vocal numbers and a seniors dance at the gym.

State Normal college to stage Paul Osborn comedy Oliver! Monday June 7 during commencement week. Albert Comer of Norris leads as Oliver with a long active acting history and Delta Psi Omega membership. Desonia of Dale is also listed in the cast.

Horticulurists Visit Spud Farm Tour by Bateman and party

A visiting group led by F H Bateman of Greenlock New Jersey president of the National Potato Growers Association inspected the Irvine and Cottom seed potato farm. The tour included Montana State College horticulture leaders and local officials. They observed seed cutting and treating and tested plots. last year’s crop had been shipped and seed potatoes were sent to Argentina Uruguay Guatemala and Japan for trials. President Sheldon E Davis to deliver Fort Benton high school commencement address Friday marking the final lecture of the Normal college faculty series.

The Boy Scout Court of Honor will be held at the courthouse at 8:15 PM on Thursday night due to a baseball game. Visitor Martin Grosso of Meaderville was noted during the event.

State Gun Shoot Set to Open at Dillon Friday

The forty fourth annual Montana State Sportsmen's association state gun shoot will begin Friday at the Dillon Gun club with a Thursday practice. Participants include nine Salt Lake City gunners and Roy Forrester who returns from Spokane. A total of 26 events offer cash purses totaling 1280 with trophies for top shooters.

Beaverhead County Agent as Rotary Speaker on Conservation Program

Bernard Williams Beaverhead county agent was the principal speaker at a Rotary meeting outlining the Agriculture Conservation Program. He described two divisions crop and range with 1936 as basis and 1937 changes, noting county participation counts for both programs and naming Lambert Eliel as meeting chairman.

Dillon Through the Eyes of an Idaho Visitor

Fred White, longtime Dillon resident before 1897, recalls the town’s changes since his youth. He notes few old landmarks remain, mentions Edgerton’s store, Blacktail creek, and the railroad boom that created the Terminal era, comparing Dillon to a strange town now. Orchestra Presents Spring Concert At Training School

Twenty eight training school students performed in the annual spring concert at the training school auditorium assisted by twelve high school students. The program began at 8 15 pm with four numbers by the training school orchestra under L A Gregory. Part two featured a violin cello piano trio, a clarinet duet, and ensembles including a woodwind quartet and brass group. Part three had six numbers and a vocal trio. Reading of participants lists many named students and teachers.

Dillon Wins Diamond Thriller In State League Opener

Dillon opened the state league schedule with a 4 0 victory over Butte Silver Bow Parks at Butte. Pitcher Floyd Vandegrift held the opposition to two scrappy hits and Dillon got two hits from Vavich and Kruzic with Dyche, Davis and Lubich adding one each. The win, after a strong defensive game with one error, sets up Dillon to host East Helena Thursday night at the county fairgrounds to start the home schedule.

Memorial Day Tribute in Dillon at Mountain View Cemetery

Memorial Day services in Dillon honored war dead at Mountain View cemetery hosted by Beaverhead Post of the American Legion. The program featured the high school band, a Gettysburg Address by Miss Bernice Metlen, and remarks by Commander T Lee McCracek. Taps and flag lowering closed the ceremony amid rain as residents placed floral offerings.
