The Riflemen of the Revolution: Morgan’s Riflemen Rise
In 1775 Virginia Maryland and Pennsylvania riflemen join Washington near Cambridge. Daniel Morgan leads 96 Frederick county men northwest and earns fame for rapid 600 mile march. The corps become Morgan’s Riflemen and later part of the Continental army’s Ranger corps. Their battles at Saratoga Stillwater and Monmouth cement a legendary frontier tradition.
