Lima M E church Mite Society held elections for six months and hosted a picnic inviting one guest each. Officers named include President Mrs C W Gray Vice president Mrs C W Nugent Secretary Mrs Chan Carson Treasurer Mrs Chas Truax. Attendees listed with many spouses and children.
John P. Pfeifer of Boise City Idaho visited with daughter Mrs Julius Hartwig last week. Francis Browne of Browne's station and Kathrine Hopp of Birch creek stayed with friends in Twin Bridges. Tessie Reichle's leg improving after a Chicago trip. Fishermen from Butte visited Browne's lakes with a Monday train party. Mrs F Hopp and Mr and Mrs Jacob Hartwig hosted visitors. Lena Huber stayed a few days with Mrs Hartwig. Some grain heads out despite cold weather.
Special correspondence from Tribune notes a Dillon Redrock ball game ending 10 to 18 in Dillon's favor due to Dillon's umpiring and poorer Redrock play. Mountan stage accidents blamed on brake failure, a girl injured, stage nearly overturned, but not seriously. Several local visits and social gatherings mentioned including Miss Blanche Moss of Dillon visiting Redrock and others like Mrs Ike Rife's relatives and Rev Burton's missing grip.
Special correspondence notes Miss Jeasia Walters returns from three years of schooling in Michigan and is welcomed back by friends. Other local sightings include Ford Barth at Excelsior ranch, birthdays celebrated for Mrs. Henry Redfield, and visits by Jno. Carney Jr. and others amid weekly social activity.
The past week was the busiest of the season with 330000 pounds sold 121000 consigned and 1350 bags brought in to the wool house since last Friday The highest price paid was 14 cents and the lowest 1214 cents Readout lists many buyers and consignors including Justice Bateman Co Jeremiah Williams Co and Woolgrowers Association Co with numerous firms named for large consignments and receipts
A head end collision occurred Monday morning at Apex between freight trains Nos. 27 and 28. Initial reports of fatalities proved false. only one person was injured. The accident followed a switch error by the No. 28 head brakeman as 27 passed on a siding. Both engines derailed briefly but were returned to the track with crews uninjured aside from minor injuries to Noelan.
A July 24 report from MedicinE Loner describes Frank Craver and companions in a mountain picnic. A deer approached for a photo then fled. The group climbed Piletus for a distant view, noting snow drifts and an 80 by 50 by 100 foot pile.
The Montana State Normal School issues its fifth annual catalog noting steady growth since 1897. It reports graduates each year, widespread teaching work across 12 counties, and 23 of 26 counties represented in attendance. The school emphasizes teacher training, keeps to core normal duties, expands facilities, and plans dormitory expansion before September 9. Mrs. B. F. Oheney visited from Lima.
A Boston News Bureau report quotes an Amalgamated Copper official noting a recent sales lull despite some export gains. He cites price shading, stockpiling, and a shift of purchases to speculative buyers, with dividends likely kept at current levels while earnings exceed official figures.

In Dillon four months of alleged cons end as Mildred Elliott and brother Frank Elliott leave town. They ran a restaurant in North Montana street with Mildred accused of luring patrons out of money through eye appeal and dice games. Reports claim previous victims in Spokane and other towns, with creditors and disconsolate admirers left behind.
On next Sunday July 27 Rev A B Martin will be installed as pastor of the Presbyterian church. Rev H Gwynne of Anaconda will preach at 11 AM with the installation at 8 PM. Presbytery stated clerk Rev E J Groeneveld of Butte will preside and preach. Charges will be given by Rev Gwynne and Rev Walter Mitchell of Melrose. All invited to attend both services.
A young man named J. A. Thompson was kicked from a moving passenger train between Bedrock and Lima. He suffered a crushed foot requiring amputation at the instep and is recovering at the Dillon poor farm. Thompson, a sheep herder returning to Salt Lake City, claims the brakeman assaulted him after Thompson refused to disembark. Local officials hear sympathy and call for lawful action against the brakeman.
Letter to Ex Governor White explains Geo H Maxwell cannot lecture in Dillon on August 6 due to an important San Francisco case and his partner being in Mexico. Maxwell will return to Montana early in November to resume lectures at designated points. State Secretary W M Woornrpar requests notice of cancellation.
Judge Melton handled a disturbance case after Alva Knotts forced entry with women involved, leading to four guilty pleas and fines of five dollars for the women and ten dollars for Knotts. Charles Holt and Michael Comers faced vagrancy charges with ten dollar fines and brief detentions. A warrant was issued for Dr Dearborn on an assault complaint, Mrs Dearborn testifying. Gun play at the Montana saloon added to the list of recent arrests for drunkenness and vagrancy, with eight additional arrests since last Friday.
