Wet Weather Delays Crop Pest Menace

Wet weather over the past two months may have only delayed grasshopper hatching, county agent Bernard Williams said. Ranchers are told to watch for hoppers, crickets, and the potential web worm after heavy rains. Hoppers usually hatch by early July, but July hatching is possible with the late spring and ongoing rain. Some crickets have appeared in Smallhorn canyon, while thousands of moths attracted by lights raise concerns of a later web worm invasion.
